Sappy question but do you cry more as you get older?

I've noticed as I get older more things move me to tears than when I was in my teens and 20's. I find I appreciate beauty/genius/humanity(vulnerability) more than in my youth

Of course this happens when no one else is around

Yes.

Then again I've been in "jobs" in my younger years where in order to accomplish the goal you had to bottle that up inside, hence you let it out reading novels or watching movies.

Are you male or female? Either way go get your hormone levels / thyroid tested.

It's normal for men to do so as they experience a reduction in testosterone levels with age.

Real men can and do cry. It's not a sign of weakness ... no matter what we have been taught as kids.

Tears are the safety valve of the heart when too much pressure is laid on it. Tears can be proof that a man is sensitive, humble and well-rounded.

But there is a definite balance between being so sensitive that the Hallmark movie of the week makes you weep versus shedding tears over something that is meaningful, such as loss of a friend or family member, or for that matter, empathizing with someone who has lost a loved one.

In part that relates to other things in your life. Getting all emotional about the ruptured below the waterline water intake pipe, or the person whose arm has gotten mangled won't do much good for resolving the problem, but then you go to see a sad movie latter and are like a child - it is a safety valve for the previous bottling up.

How's your sex drive?
Any trouble sleeping?
Mood swings?
Loss of appetite?
Ever think about harming yourself?

Whatever it is, they probably have a pill for it.

Lots of truth in what you say here Aardvark. On the other hand, if I find my eyes welling with tears in a movie theatre, I usually attribute that to a brilliant musical score enhancing the story arc.

Which of course contributes to the great respect I have for musicians and composers.

Lots of men cry. Just not that often

Fucking pussies.
Dale Ernhart cried after finally winning the Daytona 500.

Seen lots of soldiers cry during ramp services repatriating their comrades bodies back to Canada.

Seen more than one husband cry when thier wife passed.

I hear the Canadian National anthem for something! Olynpics, Golf, I tried to keep it together for a recent funeral and it was interesting.

You never know what sets off my tear ducts? If a woman came so forcefully that she cried I wood tell her everything is all right and
keep on doing it!!! Then I'd probably wake up, I was very happy to see Clarke win the British Open, I thought that was great!

Carry on...........
