San Jose, Costa Rica

I recently travelled to Costa Rica to visit a former employee and see a bit of the countryside as well as the country's capital, San Jose, where my friend lives. A full week being a real tourist in that city does not allow for much free time, but what was available to me was used to full advantage.

San Jose has been described as "mongerer's paradise". Prostitution is legal, but any touching a minor will land you in jail pronto. For the many MALE visitors from the USA, these liberal laws are perfect. For us Canadians, it's no big deal, except that communication is not illegal.

On the whole, the country's people are reasonably conservative in thought, but their dress doesn't always reflect that. They dress like many in Montreal, flashy and trendy, despite low incomes. Indeed, the economy, while appearing to be solid, is operating at about 1/3 the scale of ours, and thus many prices are about that. Beer is $2, but a soft drink (Canada Dry Ginger Ale, of all things to be drinking there) is $2.25.

For reference, the website similar to terb, www.costaricaticas.com usually called CRT, is very useful, if not mandatory reading.

Travel there from YYZ was a breeze, $660 return inclusive of fees. San Jose Airport (SJO) is modern and clean. Transportation downtown is the usual pain in the butt, amounting to $20 or so. Hotels a-plenty in this modern city, but for purposes of reasonable access to nice ladies I took the advice on the CRT board and booked a boutique hotel, La Amistad, close to enough action for me. Just one block away is the Sportsmen's Lodge, which caters to all sorts of sports, I presume, including women chasing.

Actually there is no need to chase, because there is a wide selection at your elbow at the Sportsmen's, referred to as SL. It is a real hotel, and you could stay there quite comfortably, but perhaps it is a bit noisy. Since it is a hotel, the bar are is open from 9 am to 12 midnight only, unlike other establishments closer to the city centre (5 blocks away). Ladies appear for work anytime from 8:45 am on. Some spend just their mornings, others arrive after lunch, and then there are the evening shift. Some seems to there all the time, playing pool or watching any of the many TV screens. At any one time there may be twenty to fifty ladies. Rather like a big Terb party, non-stop! And, the bonus is, one can engage in discussing all the pertinent issues without fear of LE, which oddly enough, is there anyway just watching for underage ladies or drunks. If you choose to book your room at the SL, you can negotiate with your chosen lady or ladies, and walk down the hall. If, as in my case, you stay at a neighbouring hotel, you would walk hand-in-hand down the street. All very civilized and serene. Guys make recommendations, and ladies make recommendations. I was very fortunate to have a lady recommended to me on my first evening, a lady that I would "see" four times during my stay, including a super duo on her recommendation ("you would really like my friend, and she would really like you too").

The big reason to go there is the availability and ease. Quality is as usual variable, and a high-quality packaging doesn't always yield a high-quality experience. But on the whole, one can choose what ever level of experience you wish to have, and easily. My own experiences there rate on a par with my best-ever anywhere, anytime. At least two were over-the-top - one with a med student, another was my last sample - one I had seen playing pool every day and thought that she was cute, but I never did chat with her until she sat down beside me and said that she heard I was nice. She was my best ever without a doubt. What a superb way to end my visit to San Jose!

Downtown is the largest whorehouse in the western world, operating as a hotel, casino and bar 24/7. There the selection is wider in quality and price, ranging lower and higher than at the SL. I wandered through one evening but it wasn't my type of place.

I recommend a visit to Costa Rica for anyone, either as an eco-tourist, a conventional tourist or just to visit the ladies. There is a political move afoot to limit the latter type of visitors; many US dudes are just too damn loud and rude, and some are quite abusive. There are many exceptions to that though, I met some wonderful gentlemen who treated the ladies exceptionally well. Stories emerge from the ladies as you chat with them for any length of time on how they have met with some rough customers. The ladies are gentle folk, just trying to survive in a marginal third-world economy and deserve to be treated well.

So, if you go, remember that kindness is repaid with kindness and good service, as I found out. Take precautions, bring your supplies, and enjoy the city and country not just for the beautiful Ticas.

I would be glad to furnish more detailed notes and recommendations (ladies names, emails, other stuff) for anyone travelling to Costa Rica. Pura Vida!

Oh, and how is my friend doing there? She is really enjoying being home, and has a wonderful man in her life, so I am very glad I went to see her.

Going to be in SJ tomorrow, it'll be my 18th (I think) trip.

El Pueblo is much more dangerous these days...guns & knives abound. You really have to watch yourself there.

Another important thing to know is that your bank card may be useful at only a few places. I found this out on my first day, to my horror! The first 10 or so ATMs refused my card, but I found that the Bank of San Jose ATMs were good for me. I even tried at the Scotia Bank and it didn't work. I would assume that a Scotia card from Canada would be fine.

An allnighter will run anywhere from US$100 to 300, depending on k*ds at home or other obligations, and if you are nice and can provide a better bed than she has at home (most likely). All nighters are quite common, and the sound of the high heels going along the tile hallway and down the stairs serves as an alarm clock to some in the hotel. Some ladies stay for breakfast, and you could even do some "day planning" with them that early.

The per hour is rather vague, cld be as low as 20 if you so choose, or as high as 100 if you insist in being too generous, and the hour is a vague length too. I would pay 60 to 80 for about 1.5hr. Then I tipped above for exemplary service. Saw one lady 4 times in the week, she was so nice.
