This is not to spur or fuel a debate on phones but just a heads up particularly those who have just upgraded to the Galaxy S21.

I have been using an old phone with my Android Auto until the phone port went defective. I use to love photography as a kid and I was interested in getting my feet wet to see if the old passion is still there. As the phone is a business expense for me anyway - I took the leap and got the S-21 Ultra. As with all the latest phones, I was blown away by the advanced features. You can imagine my surprise when the one thing this phone doesn't do that the old one did - connect to Android Auto. I had to dig the internet to find out what was happening but the S-21 has Android Auto connection issues.

The phone has only been out a few weeks so I will wait to see if they fix the problem quickly. Just an FYI for those who bought or are thinking about this model.

***** UPDATE ***** A new software has fixed the problem. Removed and updated Chrome and Android Auto with new versions after bulletin from Samsung. Still think they should have checked before the release.

Are you able to use the S21 with Android Auto wirelessly? Or do you still need a cable?
I think the phone is capable but the car unit still needs the cable. I think it has to do with the wireless data rate which the car only supports the wire. The new car models have wireless chargers and wireless Android Auto. Since the head supports both iPhone & Android - I'm guessing the interface & features is the same for both.

Does it really shoot 8K videos?
Yes, there is a YouTube sample here:

I'm not that much into video so unless I see something truly unique (fireworks, car race, etc ), I can't see myself using it. I imagine it would suck up memory quite quickly.

I took a big leap in getting the S21 Ultra for the photography. I hope to try some astrophotography with it. A sample is given on this YouTube tutorial:

If you want tips from a professional photographer:

I'm guessing iPhone has a similar product, the only comparison video I saw - you needed to strain your eyes to see a difference.

One of the biggest pains when I had my 35mm camera with 6 different lens was hauling it around just in case I saw a great opportunity for a shot. To have 4 lenses, flexible manual modes with ISO, temp, speed, etc and low light photography in the palm of your hand is amazing. Ditto the AI controlled features.
