I agree, bad timing on Saks part, particularly with the loonie so low. Teaming up with Pusateris will lead to a divorce also. Those ladies who do New York shopping sprees will not visit the Eaton's CentreDon't tell your girlfriend, wife, mistress and/or favorite SP. Saks 5th Avenue is now in Toronto.
I give them 2 years 3 max before they fold their tent and close their door.
Since it is all over the news. Young and Queen, and next week Sherway Gardens. I expect like Holt Renfrew, they already are aware, of the newest addition to the high end market.Don't tell your girlfriend, wife, mistress and/or favorite SP. Saks 5th Avenue is now in Toronto.

The people who shop at Sak's are not concerned with the value of the loonie. These are not Walmart or Tower's - it is an exclusive store for the elite so I would guess they will do well. Some snooty people will shop just so they can carry out the trash in Sak's bags.I agree, bad timing on Saks part, particularly with the loonie so low. With all the forged credit cards and identity theft going on, shoplifting is soon becoming obsolete.Huge target for Organized Retail Crime ($3.6 Billion/year underground economy), professional shoplifters who will steal and sell to flea markets, craigslists and kijiji.
Shoplifting will never become obsolete. 7 billion people are always tempted to steal. That's like the conservative government thinking they can get rid of the demand for paid sex. With all the forged credit cards and identity theft going on, shoplifting is soon becoming obsolete.
I made a few dollars today on Norstroms their earnings flopped missed projections blames on the warm weather and other excuses but the wallets are tightening folksDon't forget Nordstrom's in the former Sears/Eatons location opening up in the fall.
Will these retailers succeed? It will be a challenge, but Toronto is a wealthy and wanabee city. Old money with deep pockets and young millenials who spend any disposable income on clothes.
Norstroms and Saks cater to the 1%. The rest of us shop at Wal-Mart. I would also imagine that the vast majority of Torontonians would rather spend $1million on a house than $100,000 on a watch.I made a few dollars today on Norstroms their earnings flopped missed projections blames on the warm weather and other excuses but the wallets are tightening folks
Shows you that certain CEOs truly do live in a different world.HBC did an aboutface, ditching Zellers and buying Saks.
