It is being reported that the famous actress Mary Tyler Moore has almost entirely lost her sight due to complications from diabetes.

I must say that I was surprised to learn that she was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at 33, which is rather old for type I which is an autoimmune disease.

She stocked up and had a garage full of Tab when Coca-Cola discontinued that brand of soft drinks in her area because of the saccharin links to cancer scare. I remember thinking how fucked up that seemed to me, knowing she was diabetic.

Didn't offend me in the least. Simply pointing out that the way he phrased it could be taken in a way that I imagine he did not intend, i.e. it was a sadder story because she's famous.
