As much as I despise Bush, I really don't think he had much input on the decision. Call me naieve if you will, but from what I've read the Iraqi court is about as independent as a court could be. Even some US observers and administrators have been ejected.

Ramsey Clark was a defence lawyer for Saddam, him being thrown out of court hardly shows the court's impartiality, he was a defender of Milosevic and just about any anti US thug out there, way to go Georgie jr you will create a symbol for the Sunni nationalist insurgents to fight on for years the second Saddam is executed

I thought they should have honoured his request and used a firing squad.

I bet if the US put him back in charge that he would clean up Iraq pretty quick, greatly improving mid-east stability... and saving american lives

I guess we should expect retaliation & riots for this decision. I think the trial was just a staged show, to humiliate the former proud leader.

When will americans be charged with war crimes?

You know the saying "getting away with murder" , Saddam obviously didn't but Bush has. I say hang Saddam and put Bush in front of a firing squad.

Happy to know that Sadaam would be punished as he deserver this.

But also thinking about Bush.....
as a guy who killed 140 people in 1982 will be hanged (good to know)
But what about Bush whose actions/decisions are killing almost 50-60 daily now in Iraq?

Jeminy, I thought that even naughty nurses were trying to save lives, not rejoicing at killing someone.

One less dictator in the world! Now, if only someone had the courage to take out some of these bastards in Africa, we'd really be progressing as a civilized society. Of course, the accusation would be that it's racism to attack those maniacal, greedy, wicked dictators (who happen to be black). So many evil dictators... so little courage.

Big Surprise.

They just created a martyr for many.
They should banish Saddam in Mars. His only company being himself and the brick walls surrounding him.

At least there was stability in Iraq with Saddam in power

If you think about it.. what is the difference between Saddam & Bush???.. Bush's armed forces were bigger.. they are both dictators.

I think Iraq & the world would have been much better off if Saddam was still in power... The only winner now is Iran

More Iraqis have died as a result of the US invasion and occupation than were ever killed by Saddam. Just wait until Iraq becomes an islamic state in the near future with close ties to Iran.

Death by hanging? What is this the late 1800s? Why not put him in a coliseum with lions or in a UFC match to the death and have it on pay per view? Seriously if they want to kill the guy just put a gun to his head and pull the trigger and get it done with. For that matter is putting him to death gonna send a message to other tyrants that you shouldn't do bad things? Lucky for U.S. presidents they never have to face war crimes.

LOL. Well for one, Bush was elected by the people. Two, he can't just unilaterally make decisions to attack others but rather must go through Congress. Three, his term will have an ending. Four, people are allowed to voice their contempt for him. Five I don't think we'll ever hear about him putting his political enemies through wood chippers. Six, he has never used nerve gas on his own people. Shall I continue?

Wow... what a thought...Genius

Do you mean 140 to 200 (or lets say 500) killed under dictator ruler Saddam are Wrong.....
BUT
40-50/day or approx 40x30 =1200/month (approx) by democratic ruler BUSH are CORRECT and justifleable?? What a approach....lol

Point here is - killing rate of civilians were low during Sadaam time as compare to NOW Bush time..(it does not mean that Sadaam was good guy but at least situation was in control)
