All wars, justified or not, killed innocent people. Critical
judgement of a war will take time for history of its aftermath
to unfold. It would be great if every war in the past had been
put to an end right when it was started if only you could tell
what the outcome would turn out to be. One conflict that was
resolved well before it escalated I can think of is the Suez Canal
crisis. About 1000 Egyptian civilians were killed in the invasion of
the France/UK/Israel coalition . Most likely a lot more would have
died if not for president Eisenhower's intervention. Somehow
Eisenhower later came to realise his intervention was a big mistake.
I too want to see the end of the Ukraine war as quick as
right at this moment. But I would rather all the support provided
to Ukraine are limited to humanitarian aid and
sanctions on Russian exports. Military support
would only protract the war and result in more death. Putin
is a cold and calculating strongman not a mad man. He
understands Russia cannot survive in isolation in the long run.
If we just let the war take its course it likely will end in
a month I hope.
