Yeah, I know, this should be on a hotel board, but I keep forgetting to share here.

RY was my first choice for hobbying, then stopped going due to rather shoddy service. Gave them another chance with my Platinum points. Result ABUSIVE, hostile (well how many people did you THINK were in a 2 bedroom suite?), with written policies that encourage staff to be rude.

And their HO execs? Most utterly braindead people  I have encountered in my 40 business years. They have lost many 10s of thousands of my $ (TO, Whistler, Lake Louise, Bermuda.. who knows?)

We finally settled, after a year. Confidentiality agreement prevents me from commenting further.

Compensation

Hit them where it hurts the most - their pocketbook. That'll teach them.

.. of course I have learned not to "cut off my nose to spite my face". As long as they are the only ski in/ski out hotel at Tremblant, I'll keep going back. But there are plenty of better choices in TO, Whistler, etc.

Actually, the real way to affect them is to write a bad review on Expedia or other travel sites. A couple of my friends are hotel operators and tell me that this is a huge factor in their bookings.
Will do. As far as hobbying, jeez we werent doing it in the halls. As a matter of fact when harrassed, we were literally, just talking. And, I can honestly say their basic services are just waaaaay below other hotels in that $ level.

What really got me going was their arrogant attitude when it comes to making amends. Things arent always perfect at Hyatt, Delta or Marriott, but they step up quickly and generously to satisfy a good guest.

I like the Starwood chain of hotels the best to hobby at, all are OK, never had a problem but it seems the Starwood hotels I been at, most of the staff minds their own business.

The Marriott in the Fallls were good too, late in the evening but before midnight I walked my date out to her right in front of the hotel. I went right back in to go back up to my room and nobody at the front desk look at me. Thats how it should be--at the Sheraton in the Falls--on Fallsview dr--they keep all the doors unlock in the the hotel 24 hours. You can walk in the side door right by the elevators and go up to your room without even going by the front desk---but the valets boys did all stare at my one date ha ha when she left though the front doors.

Here
Avoid Sutton Place for more or less the same reasons - I dont care how much lipstick you put on that pig of a hotel, it's still nothing more than an aging 4-star wannabe with mediocre staff and incompetant management.

Delta Chelsea is a close second. Unless you are part of the countless tour groups that stay there, you should never intentionally stay there. The room decor is circa 1983 - which is about the last time the bathrooms were cleaned.

Starwood and Marriott chains have always been good choices, whether it be in downtown or for business travel in the States. The Westin is another great choice.

always got bad service delivered with a bad attitude at Fairmounts in Canada and US. I don't even think of them anymore.
