He's one of my favourite fighters, but tonight was sad. He just doesn't have it anymore. The handspeed is still there, but his footspeed and reflexes have slowed down. I've never seen Jones get hit that muich.

He killed his body to back down from heavyweight to lightheavyweight and he hasn't looked good since.

Two KO's in one year! I hope he just hangs it up, that was a brutal KO.

In his prime he would have toyed with this guy, but this is not the Roy Jones of old, please retire RJ.

I was also dissappointed.
Roy Jones did not look like the old RJ.
But then again, Johnson outworked and outboxed RJ. He prevented Roy Jones from utilizing his footspeed and hand movement by bringing the fight up close.

Part of me wishes that Jones keeps going; but without his speed he definitly suffers and maybe it is better that RJ retires. Especially after two vicious KOs.

An end of an era for boxing if he does retire.
A sad day for boxing though I am happy for Johnson who deserved the win. Seems like a nice guy; couldn't be happier for him.
Really liked what he said at the end, something like: "I don't think I am the best; I'm just the guy who is willing to fight the best!"
A statement like that shows that he has class and heart!!

I thought Johnson was going to puch himself out early at the rate he was going; I was wrong.

I like this guy (lotsa heart) I hope he can make around Tarver, if he doesn't we probably won't see much of him after that.

Do you guys think he can take Tarver? I'm afraid that Tarver will probably eat him alive.

Have not seen enough of Tarver.
From what I heard, he would be the favoured fighter.

From what I heard, it will be Tarver versus Hopkins.
Maybe Johnson will fight the winner.
I thought Johnson might burn himself out also but he managed to bring it to RJ throughout the whole fight.
I would like to know if Roy Jones got knocked out from the looping cross or the hard fall onto the canvas.

Any predictions on the Mayorga and Trinidad fight.
Gonna say Mayorga; just because I like Mayorga and don't care much for Trinidad. Should be entertaining.

I think the hard cross knocked Roy out, and then the hard hit to the canvass rendered him unconscious for a bit. It looked real serious there for a secon.

Johnson is career journeyman fighter, he's a tough strong lightheavy, but I would still favour Tarver, who's exceprionally big for that weight and is more skilled than Johnson, although I wouldn't write Johnson off.

I'm excited about Trinidad/Mayorga as well. Although I guarantee this. It will be THE fight of the year! I can't wait. I'm picking Mayorga.

Trrinidad is a fighter that likes to fight at midrange distance. Mayorga has no problems getting inside, and he's very strong guy with a good chin. Plus Trinidad has been off for 3 YEARS. He is going to be rusty. Plus in his last fight before he retiredm he was tentative against a journeyman, a result of his KO loss to Hopkins the fight before.

I just think its a bad idea for him to fight a guy like Mayorga in a comeback fight.

That cross just looked weird when it impacted with Jones' head; it just didn't look like it landed cleanly. But I guess it was more than enough to end RJ's career.

Mayorga is tough and he loves to brawl.
Trinidad may wish he stayed retired.
Can't wait to see Mayorga light one up right after the fight!!

Yup I can't wait. haha I love when he lights up the cigar after the win!

The shot to RJ heads didn't look that hard true. Maybe it landed right on the temple which stunned RJ. Could be that, I'd have to watch it again. The thing is, I don't think I'm going to watch that fight again!

Didn't Mayorga fail to go to the hearing or something like that. Both Trinidad and Mayorga can get hit ... should be a KO, if they fight truly.

RJ Jr.'s been getting hit a lot lately ... time to hang 'em up. There goes any chance of a re-match for Hopkins. I figure Hopkins last fight will be against Trinidad/Mayorga winner. Can anyone see Tarver dropping down a weight to fight Hopkins? Tarver can go on to fight Johnson now.

I think RJ was either hit in the temple or the ear. With the size of the gloves it was hard to tell. A well placed shot to the ear can really mess with your equilibrium.

Watching the replay ... it looks like he was out before hitting the ... canvas.
That was my feeling, it looked like the last punch just pushed him over.

If you're referring to the Johnson's hook to Roy Jones' shoulder, that definitly pushed/flung a dazed or knocked out Roy Jones hard onto the canvas.

..probably few people less qualified to tell RJJ how to fight then me but....like Tyson , RJJ has stopped moveing his feet. Maybe its just simply old age, Ali did the same thing, but you get these fighters who really make great use of their footwork who later in their careers stop and just try and punch. Sometimes I wonder if its a pride thing, as they get successful they arent just concerned with winning they dont want to be accussed of not going toe to toe with the guy.

I don't think Roy Jones wanted to go toe to toe with Johnson. I think Johnson just stayed so close to Jones that RJ had no room to maneuver.

Roy had plenty of oppurtunity to fight/brawl with Johnson but instead he just covered up and just waited for the perfect counterpunch that never materialized.

I agree. Lazy Bastard, very 'Lewis'esque IMO. They don't put the work in, just sit back and wait for a KO oppertunity.

Hey! Hey! baci2004

Lewis'esque!!

Lets not go that far!

With Roy and his style, I don't think it was laziness. He is more of a technical fighter than a brawler. And more of a counter fighter than an aggressive (in your face) type of fighter.

Some fighters just don't like to mix it up; and Roy Jones was one of them.

Yes! Yes! Manji

Maybe that was a bit extreme. I was a bit disapointed, I was really looking forward to a fight.
