Was at the Rogers store at Yonge and Dundas this morning to pay a bill, when I walked in after employee unlocked the door , along with the standard security guard, to my surprise there were 2 pay duty cops inside, one at the front entrance and another at back of store. Guess Rogers has smash and grabs now.

Pay duty officers make $94.50 per hr at 3 hrs minimum.

Are shoplifting/smash and grabs tha rampant at Rogers now? Thought jewellery stores only.
A Bell store at the mall in Oakville got robbed a couple months back; if that can happen in the most vanilla suburb in the GTA, you better believe it can happen at Yonge & Dundas.

Considering how much revenue that particular store at Y & D brings in (I assume quite a lot) it's probably money well spent to have the visual deterrent. But it didn't use to be this way in this country.

Now you have to pay before CND Tire will allow you to pump your gas.

Don't see the problem with pay before you pump. You have to pay regardless so why not.
It's self serve so no need to tip.

So the outcome of our lax policies on crime is a two-tiered system. Those who can afford to pay the cops, get protection. Those who can't, are on their own.

Just comparing years ago to today. Gas stations must get a lot of gas and dash these days.
This just shows how the world has deteriorated.

Remember way back when air was free at the gas station!

I have to carry a $20 CDN Tire air compressor in my trunk these days for air. If you pay the $2 at the gas station compressors you become a U-man.

LMAO. Who tips at the gas station?
you missed the point.
precisely why there's no need to wait to pay after rather than before.

I am aware of those and have been meaning to get one but I have a vintage car and not sure the cigarette lighter is working properly. Will investigate again. My tires are good and don't need air that often also.

They should post armed guards at these stores like in Mexico with ak47s and orders to shoot to kill as soon as those teenage punks pull out their hammers and pillow cases.

I think that it is now an industry wide standard. Shell and Costco are the same.
Pre pay at the pump means that you don't have to go inside the station, which is bad for their retail business. No spontaneous bags of chips or soft drink purchases. So half the goddam damn time the pump display says
"Paper out. Go inside to get your receipt." Devious, as usual.
