I have had Rogers for the last 5 years and right now have their 1.5GBPS unlimited plan. Thinking of switching to Bell Fibe 1.5GBPS because of the really bad Rogers reliability.

Which according to you is better and should I switch?

Bell Fibe can mean different things.

The most reliable is Bell Fibre Optics directly to your home - FTTH. You can tell by having upload speed same or almost the same as download speed e.g. 3Gbps download, 3Gbps upload; 500Mbps download 500Mbps upload. Some Bell Fibe are FTTN (fibre optics going to a central node and not to your home directly), and it will only give you much slower upload speed as compared with download. FTTN is not much better than Rogers.
You can get good deals as a new customers, but usually for 2 years, and the price would go up.

But in terms of reliability, there is no comparison. Bell FTTH simply works, and you can expect NO downtime at all. It's a revelation after you are used to Rogers going down every now and then for no reason.

Also keep in mind how mentally painful it is to deal with Rogers. Bell may not be perfect but I have found them to be leaps and bounds better to deal with.

Bell tried to rip me off when I cancelled the cell phone service I had with them. They also charged me for services that they never provided me for my home phone. Never again, will I deal with those crooks.

To be honest, I had switched to Rogers, and have never looked back. The few instances that I had to call them for help, they were reasonable and mostly helpful. I guess it depends on who answers the line at Rogers, and I have been fortunate.

Same here. Bell's pricing skyrocketed and they wouldn't do much for me about that either.

I.actually find Rogers to.be better! Never have had any internet issue since I switched a couple of years ago. Before that, had issues with Bell where I lost connection a couple of.times and i work from home. Almost went with a smaller company which I had used years ago but Rogers was actually cheaper.

The pricing of all cell and internet companies is now similar in Canada. We cannot hate on these companies as the government as allowed them to charge these prices.

Switch to a smaller company. There is no reason to still be with Rogers or Bell.

I've been with acanac. No issues.
I think the smaller companies buy internet from Rogers/Bell in bulk (much cheaper) and then resell it to their customers. Plus, the smaller companies have less overhead.
