At dinner time today, Gemma Communications called my house on behalf of Rogers. I was rather frustrated at the time and said a few things that I probably shouldn't have and hung up. The fucker called back, I said a few more things and at the end I said "I will get you fired", hung up. 30 seconds later the fucker called back again and said you want to get me fired? I know your address, he cited it in full, and mumbled a few other words, point he is trying to make is he knows where I live, I said I'll call the police and hung up. After having dinner, calmed down a bit. Question to you and myself, should I call the police? I have the number and time of call. Not sure if Gemma logs the operators and their outbound calls? Any thoughts?

To the Rogers folks out there, I am switching to Bell tomorrow.

Hahaa... I actually worked for Gemma. Most of the workers there are hard working immigrants, many with families. It was hell working there.

Yes, I would be extremely concerned if I were you. Gemma does not conduct background checks. They basically hire anyone, since the turnover is EXTREMELY high. I was trained with 20 people. Every day, the number of people who stayed was literally cut in half.

There are a few nut cases that work there. Anyone bold enough to call you back like that and has a grudge could potentially harm you. Absolute worst case scenario: they *could* kill you or a family member (the odds are small, but it's not unheard of). Better to be safe than sorry.

Call Gemma right away and demand to know who called and explain the situation. The telemarketer who called you should be listed in their records. If they refuse, threaten to call the police.

You reacted the wrong way. Believe it or not, telemarketers don't like calling people at dinner, they have no choice. They have to read the same fucking script over and over like machines, are pressured to make sales (else they get fired, or have their hours stripped). Gemma was particularly bad. They treat their employees like shit. And all the abuse that comes from people like you adds to their stress level.

Please just politely refuse or just hang up. No need for verbal abuse.

why bother picking up the phone?

if I'm not expecting a call, I do not answer. Let it ring.

If someone knocks my door, I don't even bother looking through the hole.

5 hours later, I do regret my earlier actions. Off to the police tomorrow. On that note, I will make sure that fucker never gets his Canadian citizenship.

YOU are going to the police? LOL!

Pardon me but wasn't it YOU that went off and threatened the guy doing his shitty menial job?

Now you think you've cooled off but NOW say you will make sure he never gets his Canadian citizenship?

Those are threats.

You really need to look into yourself and your delusions of importance. How *exactly* do you think you can either get this guy fired OR have influence on Canadian citizenship applications?
Yes I did threaten him to get him fired as I felt he was not being polite on the phone with me, not a criminal offence. When he called back to tell me he knows where I live, that is a different story my friend, which could result in criminal charges and potentially not getting his citizenship.

You have your view and I have mine, and I already stated that I regret my earlier actions, may not have been the smartest moves. It's now up to the police to decide what to do.

Well, I'm pretty sure there are stipulatons in the telemarketing laws that state they cannot call between something like 5 and 7, after 10 or before 9 something like that.

If they called at 6 (not sure when your "dinner" time is) you can lodge a complaint.....

Do you honestly believe that Bell's telemarketing is any different than Rogers?

Next time you are annoyed by a telemarketer, you should really take your frustrations out on the company it's self, rather than their workers.

You should really just move on, forget trying to get revenge on this guy...Karma has a way of working it's self out, if he's that bad, he'll get what he deserves.....You'll get the same treatment from someone else one of these days...be prepared!

Marketing Permissions

I had Gemma call me numerous times awhile back at all times of the day/evening. I requested time and time again that they not call back and yet they continued to do so. I eventually got so frustrated that I called Rogers to complain. They pointed me to this page:

https://your.rogers.com/customercare/Permissions_opt_out.asp

After filling in their form I had no further calls from Gemma. It's a shame that one has to "opt out" of such things but that's the way things to be set up over at Rogers. I suggest you give it a try.

yeah, really no point getting angry at a telemarketer. like they make minimum wage which works out to like $20K a year. their job is shit and no one likes to do what they do. though if they were being a jerk off right off the bat, than you damn well know i would give them a piece of my mind.

though this one time...someone did call and i kept declining for the product about 10 times and they kept offering me more shit. rule of thumb..if u get declined 3 times...stop fucking trying. but anyways...i just put my number on the do no call list. havent gotten a call since...though i have gotten 1 scam call from the stats on my cell phone which i am pissed. and i do get particularly pissed when i get telemarketers on my cell phone because its my work line too.

Just remember sweet deals are being thrown at all consumers, Unfortunately english speaking csr's are not plentiful, 3rd party call centers, will always be calling! Fortune 500 companies will always looking at there bottom line to improve profits for there stock holders, so they can receive dividends! They fire there $20+ per hour employees. Then hire contact call centers! To get rid of unions.
