I got a couple of notices from Rogers about them changing over the cable modems. Supposedly an upgrade and no charge.

Anyone know what's up with that? Is it actually an improvement? If you've already converted (it's supposed to be done by the end of July) were there any technical hassles to deal with or did it go smoothly?

Thanks for any feedback.

i got the new modem a couple weeks ago and ive noticed an improvment. videos seem to run smoother now with very little stoppage. Worth it and its nice the monthly rate stays the same. Just the one time purchase.

What does the one time purchase cost? A friend got the upgrade because he spends a lot of time gaming on the internet. I don't know how much of a difference it would make to anyone not gaming.

Hmmm, that's weird. Never got any notices from Rogers about a modem upgrade. Anyways, wouldn't mind an upgrade if it improved service but it's been amazing for the 3 years I've had it for. I'll try calling their tech. support dept. for more details.

I got a notice in my e-mail. I've had the new modem for a couple of weeks now and have noticed a definate improvement. I'm not sure how much it cost now but after the rebate it was 79.95 when they were having a deal with it.

Here and there
There's an option to turn their bulk mail filter off, Leaffan. I was having the same problem.

I also got the new modem and there's a definite improvement for the one time purchase (own the modem instead of renting from Rogers...)

Modem

The message was to replace the "Lan City Modem" which I gather not everyone received. The new Motorola one seems to work fine and is about 1/10th the size of the old one. I understood that this replacement modem was free, but for the 79 bucks you could get the one that is compatible with their new extreme service.

When you click on an email in the bulk folder you have the option of either deleting it or marking it as "no spam." When you do that, emails from that address will then go to your in box.

ok i use outlook express 6 for my rogers e-mail can i control bulk mail thru that. or do I have to use webmail to modify settings?

I couldnt see any options in oe6 that allow me to determine what is bulk and what is not.

I bought the new modem and It's REALLY fast. Cost was $80. Measured speed is 600KBytes/Sec download and 100KBytes upload within the Roger's network.

I was talking about web-based email, which is the Yahoo email interface. I use this now to access all my email because of the better spam protection and also added virus protection.

You can't... says Microsoft unless you are using Outlook. If you do a search some hacker has probably found a way by now. Let me me know if you have any luck.

I never used Outlook (I'm a Eudora man) so what I'd suggest is that you forward those emails to yourself but don't open them in Outlook. Then quit Outlook and open up the webmail and they should be there.
