Thanks mrpolarbear I knew his record was that bad. I think Matt Millen tenature will finally come to an end after this year, well lets hope so, I cant think of what more he can screw up.
Here's the thing that drives me nuts as a season ticket holder during Millen's reign of terror. Ford is a terrible owner but not because he's a tight wad (ex. Million dollar contract for a coodinator, $200K fine for signing Mariucci) or a meddling, washed up ego maniac (Al Davis). In fact, his biggest faults are that he can't pick football people (which is not exactly an isolated problem) and he's unabashedly loyal to these wrong choices (Russ Thomas, Chuck Schmidt and Moustache boy).
The silence is incredible from William Clay Sr. It's being report that Jr wants Millen gone but even his son isn't enough to get the apparently apathetic owner to make some sort of move or at least comment on the situation.
So as obvious to everyone else of the need for a change, it is the latter fault that makes me believe nothing will change. Thus, for 2007, the most overrated item in the NFL will be Brady Quinn as the #1 pick for the Leo's. Another dark chapter in what has been a crappy, crappy history. For the record, I'd like to see them trade down for picks but since I doubt there'll be people to dance with, I hope they finally start building the trenches and draft OT Joe Thomas.
As for the original start to the thread ...
Roethlisberger is incredibly overrated. Personally, I think he's really an example of the mediocrity of QB play in the NFL right now. Roethlisberger is one of the poster boys for the "Game Managers" that the position has now become instead of the leaders they once were. Aside from the tackle noted before, Roethlisberger basically made the safe throw and didn't put the D in bad spots. That's what the current generation of QB's seems to be trained to do.
Now, as for the biggest surprise to me this season, I am really, truly stunned that Terrell Owens could be a bigger dumbass than last year. How does this guy not look at himself in the mirror and say, "Morning jackass!" Then again, maybe he does. TO is not only easily the best WR in the game but perhaps the closest thing to a real life version of Wolverine out there. The broken leg and fingers and his toughness are all unfortunately drowned out by his total lack of respect for the game, his teammates and his legacy.
