Playa Del Carmen Q.R.
As we come to the last few weeks of the regular season, I am thinking about which player / team / coach -or whatever is the most overhyped/over rated for this year.

-The first one for me is Roethlisberger - what a case. I wished the Steelers would just admit that they needed a Jerome Bettis to run that offense. Ben won a lot of games last year throwing for pitiful numbers both in completions and yardage.

-The next one's a no-brainer too - Micheal Vick -yes, first QB to gain a 1000 yds rushing but at what cost?.....I dunno....maybe....wins?

-and if they miss the playoffs -the Miami Dolphins. Touted as superbowl contenders, as a team they win third spot on my list.

Any thoughts gents?

underhyped coming into the season was LT...That's been a great story to watch...Also, Tony Romo is a good story...

somewhat unrelated, but did any of you see the ending to that Bills game?

I am not a Bills nor Titans fan but I am still left scratching my head...

i disagree with the underhyped for LT.. He was already regarded as the best player in the league or at least #2 behind Manning. I agree with Romo. How many people wrote off Dallas after they benched Bledsoe. Romo made me a believer in Dallas.

For over-hyped, how about the Cincinnati offence. I had Palmer, T-Hash, and Rudi Johnson. Very average numbers.

Roethlisberger doesnt suck and isnt over rated, anyone who flies off a motorcycle and lands on a windshield is gonna be horrible, not to mention suffering a concussion and still being allowed to play

Overated Teams:

Seattle:
Were labelled one of the best teams in NFC before the season, sure they have had share of injuries with Alexander and Hasselback but they are only 3-3 in their division. A Quick exit from the playoffs

Indy:

I know they are 11-4, but they have lost 4 of the last 6 and the run defense is brutal. They lose Houston today is which they gave up 191 rushing yards.

Arizona:

They picked up Edgerrin James in the offseason to make them a playoff contender. With Bolden and Fitzgerald as receivers there offence would be better. But Kurt Warner did not work out (sounds familiar) and now they are using Matt Leinhart. They should be better next year.

Underated Teams:

Baltimore:

Who thought they would be 12-3 and battling for Home field advantage? Steve McNair leading the Ravens...Still sounds wrong.

SanDiego:

Traded away their starting QB and they are 13 - 2. Philip Rivers managing the offense well and has some guy named Tomlinson as running back. Not a bad defense either

New Orleans:

They are 6-2 on the road (hmm last year must of helped) and 10-5 overall, maybe the should not go for home field advantage. Who thought this team would make the playoffs? With young players like Brees, Colston and Bush this should be a good team for a few years to come. I really like to see them go far in the playoffs.

Teams that Suck:

Detroit - as per usual
Oakland - Please Mr. Davis get a GM to help you get some talent

There should definately be a number of firings in the off season. First one that comes to mind is GM Matt Millen of Detroit. The Lions are nuts if they plan on keeping him. Don't see Dennis Green lasting too much longer in 'Zona.

Well at least the Lions will have a high draft pick to look forward to, though Millen will probably find a way to screw that up too.

Ya he will. He will probably take another wide reciever . Sooner or later he will find one thats decent. The Lions tried too screw up their draft status yesterday, they should have beaten DA BEARS. I bet Mike Williams teamates were ready to kick his ass after dropping 4 or 5 passes, including the game winner at the end. :D

don't get me started on Palmer... I lost my fantasy league playoff game by one point thanks to only getting 3 pts from him(expected that week was 10+ but I only needed two more points)...

soooooo gayyyyyyyyyyyy

I expected Baltimore to be awesome this year with Jamal Lewis coming around... I think he will be a monster next year(the 2000 yard variety again)...That whole prison fiasco put a big dent in his career but he's comin around like I said... Not to mention with that defense, everyone knows they are always a contender...Ray Lewis and Ed Reed on the same side of the ball is a scary thought...Add in Trevor Pryce(played GREAT for denver last year), Terrell Suggs continuing to play awesome...The addition of Samari Rolle and Chris McCallister remaining at CB(most underrated shutdown corner in the league)...Then you get the great story of the Bart Scott former special teams player turned LB last season during Ray Lewis' Injury to be near all-pro calibur now...

Of course we gotta talk about the resurgence of Mcnair with this team too...He's only starting to get comfortable too...It doesn't hurt that he's still playing with his fav. wideout Derrick Mason after all these years either!

But for this thread, I would also mention Bart Scott for best story of the year along with Tony Romo...

I was in and out of the car, listening to it on the radio, and I happened to tune in right at the end. It really sounded bizarre. Did the Bills have any timeouts left?

It was such an important moment to do something, anything with a reasonable chance of success, and it was just pissed away.

I was listening to an after-game talk show and everyone calling in was upset.

They would even turn me off if they called play by play of a girl sitting on a guys face.... I missed the bills game (Again) Blacked out and to think i pay $190 for the NFL Sunday Ticket package to be blacked out!!!!!!!

Ben will go down in Steeler lore as making the best tackle ever (ugly but got the job done). Will be as famous as the "immaculate reception". Saved Jerome's bacon on that one.

ben R is a solid QB in the Favre mold: goes deep for big plays and costs his team as many games as he wins, but a decent streek gets you a super bowl. I don't think he's overrated because most people new wasn't the leader of his team.

most overrated player IMHO was Terrel Owens. the cowboys became a contender when Romo came in, not TO. He drops to many passes and demands to much media attention, which may not be hurting the team but definately isn't helping.
