Rock Star: INXS

This show really lifted me off my feet! First I always was in love with Brooke Burke so having her as the host is great... now the idea for this show is brilliant but it's no surprise that it's another hit show by Mark Burnett the same guy that gave us hits like Survivor, & The Apprentice.

So INXS wants to bring out a new album and make some money like everyone else these days... however they need a new lead singer since Michael hung himself one day and no one really knows why... so by doing this show they get a huge 3 month promotion ... make someone a star the American Idol way and bam when that album hits the stores it's going to sell like crazy... the black guy Ty was amazing... and I liked the girl who sang first Jordis..... but we will see where it goes from here... it's on again tonight at 10:00pm..... I'm hooked

Yeah, Mark Burnett really knows what cheese to serve with which wine.

I had a hard time wrapping my head around the concept of INXS possibly being fronted by a female. Maybe it's because I'm still lamenting the loss of Michael Hutchens and how much more he could have given us. However, Deanna may have changed that. Some of those other chicks sure can blow, but based on tonight's performances, I felt she would be the best fit for the band. And hot damn, she's Canadian!

On the guys' side, how about the turnaround by J.D? I was totally impressed by his performance tonight, especially after that atrocious one yesterday.

Pretty funny how the band members pointed out that Tara didn't change the lyrics on 'Take It Easy' to suit her gender. "We're not sure which way you swing."

I found some interesting tidbits on Michael Hutchins.

Like the part where he has sex with Kylie Monogue in a Qantas jet. Wish I could have done that when I flew Qantas. All I got was to watch Kylie Monogue on the in flight entertainment system. :D

I like Tara Sloane but I found her performance missed something. Out of all the performances hers had the least amount of energy in my opinion. Everyone rocked out, hers was a bit country. I love the Eagles and the song in question (take it easy) but I wish she did something that got the crowd into it.

The girl who sang the jingle to Marine land is in it!

Go Suzie

I've become a big fan of hometown girl Suzie over the past couple of nights. Sure she screwed up the first night, but man did she ever make up for it last night! And in reference to the post above, Suzie is the girl from the Marineland commercial.

I love the fact that there are 4 Canadians in the mix too.

NXS was a great band.

They actually did try going without Hutchence after he passed away. But, apparently the singer they hired didn't work out. I remember seeing an ad for a gig they were supposed to do at a nightclub in Cairnes, Australia.

Enjoy the show now before it gets bumped over to DVD.

July 13, 2005 -- MARK Burnett's newest reality show, "Rock Star: INXS," got off to a wobbly start Monday night.
The CBS reality show averaged only 5.6 million viewers — finishing fourth (9-10 p.m.) behind "Hell's Kitchen" (Fox), "Las Vegas" (NBC) and a screening of "Meet the Parents" (ABC).

INXS has actually tried a few lead singers in their past since Hutchence' death, Terence Trent D'arby and that guy from Simply Red are a couple of examples, none has really panned out to the level that Hutchence had, I remember seeing them in 93 in TO, he drops his microphone mid song but the band never missed a step, he picked it up just from where they left off, now that was talent.

Tara should win just based on the fact she is oh so yummy

Lee Aaron could beat Tara with her hands tied behind her back. If she won the spot on INXS, I won't be buying the new CD

Suzie is one cupcake away from looking too chunky

I would be really surprised if any of the women win the competition, or rather if the guys from INXS chose a female to front the band.

Lee Aaron wow there is a name I have not heard in a while, last I heard she was living in Vancouver fronting a jazz quartet

It's extremely diffulcult for a successful group to lose a popular front man and still be remain successful aftewards. It seems only Van Halen had been able to pull that feat off in recent memory with some success (Hagar replacing Roth).

It's been 8 years since Huchence has passed away. I saw him at the Goverment in '97 during their 2nd last show in North America and just weeks before he pased away. Terrific perfomer with a wonderful voice and deserves to be remembered.

The remaining band members should just DROP the name INXS and start over fresh in his honour.

Just an opinion

This is like the death of television. How did society ever stoop so low as to start
'creating' incredible stinking garbage like this? The heart and soul of the band (Michael Hutchins) is deadanyhow. How 'bout a little respect.
Hasn't anyone realized that the band was/is really nothing without him?

Anything for a dollar, huh?

What a crazy world. What's next? How about "The Next Ashley Simpson' show,

AC/DC has also pulled off that feat, when they lost Bon Scott to alcoholic poisoning by reaplacing him with Brian Johnson. They went on to make their biggest ablum ever, and one of the biggest & best in rock history, "Back In Black".

But this INXS show is a sham and sacreligious, for obvious reasons:
  • Nobody can replace Michael Hutchence
  • A singer for INXS should only be male
  • Reality shows and music don't mix
