It's the 50th Anniversary of the release of Neil Young's enigmatic/iconic album On the Beach. It's a stoner masterpiece that not even Cheech and Chong could imagine. Finally Rolling Stone writes something wonderful:

It was the first Neil album I ever bought, it still resonates.

On the Beach did it's job, I became a lifelong Neil Young fan, he's the musical version of Nicolas Cage. Like the shamanic actor, I love everything he's done.

I don't understand German, and this isn't rock. In fact its disco, from 1975. But it's my favourite German language song...

How many popular rock songs were originally written by Huddie "Leadbelly" Ledbetter? One of them is Black Betty.

And then there was this obscure ditty.

Leadbelly passed away almost 20 years before Led Zeppelin formed. Not sure how many Leadbelly songs LZ recorded, this one is confirmed.

Ledbetter was a veteran of the Chitlin Circuit (like Redd Foxx), he passed away in 1949.
