Mellowjello, have you listened to the Muddy Waters version?...slower and bluesier........i will say the Stones did a good job on this cover
I have, much slower, much bluesier.
I like the driving beat in the Stones' version though.

One of the best rock songs of all time IMHO. Saw The Band at the old Concord Hotel on Bloor St. In Toronto as an underaged 18 year old. They were still playing with Ronnie Hawkins in those days. I still think that their lead guitarist Canadian Robbie Robertson was amongst the best players in Rock. Another big favourite song of mine by The Band was Acadian Driftwood which was about the Acadians leaving N.B. to head to Louisiana. R.I.P. Levon Helm.
