I gotta thank the movie Kingpin for putting me on this one. Some great tunes on that movie soundtrack, that's for sure

It may not have been his most popular song, but this was Todd's best for me

Cabbagetown
come on over to the Black Music thread and post some tunes
I went through all 75 pages of this thread yesterday, and I removed three of my posts that were duplications of videos already posted in this thread by someone else. I don't have the time or inclination to scroll through 123 pages of the Black Music thread, to see what's already been posted. I'm not a fan of hip hop music.

When I was in my music formative years, there was no such thing as 'Black Music' to me. Top 40 radio, (CKGM-AM in Montreal), played all the current chart hits and music genres. 1970-74 was a very fertile time period for popular music. I don't relate as well to 1960's hits; they were aimed more at my older brother and sisters. AM radio began a rapid decline in January, 1975, when "Mandy" by Barry Manilow reached #1.

Cabbagetown

Most people who didn't live in Quebec think this is a George Harrison song. Michel Pagliaro was actually the first performer to headline a concert in Montreal's Olympic Stadium, with Nanette Workman opening. It was two short sets between games of a Montreal Expos doubleheader, Sunday May 15, 1977. Thanks to baseball-reference dot com for help with finding the date.

I still have the vinyl 45 of Some Sing, Some Dance, but I'm not the original owner. I got it for $5 at Kopps Records in 1989.

Leo Sayer became very popular in the later 1970s with shit music. Three Dog Night had the hit version cover of this song.

in the Black Music thread, there is a wide variance of styles...i dont expect you to scroll all 123 pages....and im not a fan of hip hop either, but many a song like that has been posted there. as well as 50,s R&B, 60,s Soul, some Blues and 70,s and 80,s smooth soul............I dont like Barry Manilow music, but he sure knew how to cover the right song....i will post the original, knowing its not rock and roll, but alot of songs posted in this thread are Pop, and not necessaily R&R imo
