If Rob Ford became mayor of toronto, he would ruin any hope we have of becoming a world class city in playing to the suburbanites desire to punish the city because of their jealousy.
2) I'm not int the downtown core. You are suggesting that my issues are not important to you as you feel that listening to people outside the core would prevent the city from becoming "world class". Well, I'm just as much a part of the city as you are and my interests and issues are no less important than yours.

Toronto isn't the GTA as much as you would want to believe. The only way we can be a world class city is by catering to making the downtown core something special with transportation and efficient building plans. As much as you want to believe it, tourists and world leaders ain't gonna come to toronto to go to North York or Missasauga.
Do you go to NYC to see New Jersey? Do you go to Chicago to go to the outlying areas? Do you go to Amsterdam to see Utrecht?

The story started with her calling 911 , that's the one that got the front pages. Days later , and of course not the front pages, more info came out.
The night before she called 911 , Rob Ford called 911 on HER, the police came and advised him to take the kids and get away from her, he decided to stick things out and not press any charges
Later, after her call and things went to court, guess who was given custody of the children ? Rob Ford.
She is the one who has problems, not him.
Having said that, he is still a bit of a boor, and even if I agree with some of his policies, I don't see council siding with him and sadly they will vote against the vast majority of them.

As for the core being the be all and end all, I would again remind you that the city has to work for ALL the citizens, not just the urban rats that wish to scuttle in the sewers. Etobicoke, North York, Scarborough all the have right to have representation. Bloor and Yonge only has so many votes, and those votes are no more or less important than the votes of Bloor and Islington or Yonge and Finch. Get use to it.

Now I supppose that the "friends in high places" could stiffle a police investigation, the crown attourny, 4 toronto newspapers, at least 6 television networks so of which have heir head offices out of province, and a whole herd of radio stations most of whom have separate ownership groups.
