He knew football I admit.

But as a human being, he was a piece of shit.

Mike Ditka won the Super Bowl as a player 1972 and as a coach 1986. He was tough as nails, a tight end with a linebacker's mentality.

Cabbagetown
Mr Irrelevant sounds kind of like a remake of Brian's Song.

John Tuggle had 49 rushing yards, 50 receiving yards and 156 kickoff return yards for his career. The biopic will likely lead to a price hike for his Topps rookie card. He died of cancer at age 25, so it's unlikely that the movie will have a sequel.

As far as I can tell, there is no connection whatsoever between Mike Ditka and John Tuggle, other than that they both played football.

I agree, but I also thought he was overrated as a headcoach.
Compared to someone like Bill Walsh, Ditka doesn't stack up.

The year he traded an entire draft for Ricky Williams the saints lost to the 0-7 renewed upstart browns and Ditka laid on the sidelines like a beached whale

No fan of the Bears but I liked Ditka a lot. Tough no nonsense player and coach. Iconic in the Windy City. RIP Big Mike 🙏

Post-game press conferences and sideline interviews are all fairly milquetoast in this sports era.
