One of my favorites. Probably seen him a dozen times, with a style of playing that is becoming near extinct. You need road miles to play music that can swing that hard. He kept making great music, and his semi-recent Satch tribute album was stellar. Everyone should go visit NOLA before they pave it all over into another boring American city.

Wasn't long ago we lost Leon Russell. Hope they have one hell of a band up there...

The band leader on the Muppet show was largely based on him (Dr. Teeth).

If you do not know Dr. John, Allen Toussaint , the Meters, or the Wild Tchoupitoulas, recommend you hit Spotify and give 'em a listen. Play it loud.

Also the Neville Brothers (a later incarnation of the Wild Tchoupitoulas) and my favourite musician from New Orleans, Professor Longhair, AKA 'Fess, AKA Roy Byrd.
