RIP David Lynch, film director, passes at age 78

Actually, I didn’t mind Onomatopoeia pointing this out, as it has been a common misconception (even amongst Costello fans).

Mr. Mugabe, I thoroughly enjoy your contributions, and I’m in awe of your savvy dry wit and, dare I say, your “dark” humour. But I will steer clear of any axe-grinding. Life is too short, so my mission is to radiate positivity, wherever possible (please see video).

As such, I’d like you to know that within minutes of my posting, Onomatopoeia took the time to DM me (a very junior member here) a 45 minute video of early Costello which I had never seen before. I was so happy, it truly brought tears to my eyes! So IMHO, Kindness is what he does….

Anyway, I loved your Costello comment, and I thank the David Lynch experts here for their recommendations.

I put Mugabe on Ignore a few months ago for being a bitch. There was a time when I used a lot of energy fighting trolls on boards, but now I just don't acknowledge them.

I'd never heard of Stereo.

I knew about David Cronenberg's movies sooner than most. When I was at college, late 1970's, Ron Mlodzik was the prof for Film Studies. Some of the movies he used overlapped with my English class. Mlodzik was the male lead in Stereo and the 1970 Crimes of the Future, and he had bit parts in Shivers and Rabid.

One of the top rated films of 2024, is a David Cronenberg film not made by Cronenberg: The Substance. The Director is using Crimes of the Future as her template.

Lynch, one of the best. Twin peaks was a masterpiece. But many of his less known works are real gems, RIP.
