I agree, it has gone too far and it has become a witch hunt. (Or Chairman Mao styled justice as I called it in another thread.)

Margret Wente wrote a column a couple of days ago in the GM about the execution of Albert Schultz before the trial.

I don't agree with the court of public opinion. We are supposed to have the Rule of Law and a democratically elected government. There is a system in place, including the Human Rights Board. People who feel victimized should use it and let the courts make a determination of guilt or not. Every day there is some new scandalous revelation in the media about some well known guy or another who allegedly committed some minor transgression such as touching someone's ass, or maybe just staring inappropriately and it's a end of the world situation. If a guy grabs a woman, won't take no for an answer and forces her to have sex, that's rape. If he drugs her and has sex with her, that's rape. A man making a sexual comment is inappropriate behaviour, but it's not sexual assault. Haul of and punch him for all I care.

What is also hypocritical,... just how many of the now very established actresses knew going in,... that they either put out,... or another one will experience stardom.

And don't bother to insult me with an accusation that I am in favour of any of the rape incidents,... which are completely wrong,... or even if the system should have been allowed.

But grow up people,... lot of bull shit being spread around by the now,... "I was so humiliated",... which was actually,... "well I nailed that part".

Absolutely... climb the ladder when it works for you, then piss on everyone once you get to the top.
So hypocritical.

Most Hollywood actresses are full of shit. Suddenly they have a "metoo" sisterhood after decades of ignoring abuse in front of their eyes.

How can I possibly disagree with a woman who was used as the model for Marrianne for five years

A new liberal and feminist craziness. It's pathetic and these days any actress can say anything bad about anyone. The guys didn't get any chance to defend themselves.
The people in US forget their own words: "anyone is innocent until proven guilty."
Now these hypocrite "virgins" start to suggest they didn't know the dark sides of Hollywood, what is publicly known as the most sickest, pervert , drug addicted city around the world..
Come on! They were not that naive!
They knew that before their first audition: The fame, the high quality lifestyle, a 6-7 figure paychecks are not free. It comes together with a tons of cock from "the hatred evil white guys".

If you want to be a star in Hollywood, you must be really talented, really smart , beautiful and you must be really good in the bed. So 8 inch swallowed can't be a problem. That's the rule. MAYBE after, you can pick up your fat check and become famous. Maybe.... If not, the other side of the hill is still waiting for you with open arms.
These actress are knew about the casting-couch tactics when they went to Hollywood. Weinstein's or other guys tactics there as old as the movie business itself.
It will be funny as me as a hooker,( liberals please call me SP ;) ) start to wondering from tomorrow: Why many men fucked me in the past ?? Because I choose this job, so I can't be surprised. :)
Otherwise I really liked Catherine Deneuve who is in my opinion, one of the most beautiful actress who ever lived. Must see her great movie: The Last Metro. :)

What a bunch of knuckle dragging neanderthals we have here. All women are asking for is to work in an environment where their ass isn't grabbed or they aren't looked up and down by some old decrepit geezer who is above her. Pretty rich too that guys are the ones claiming 'the new mccarthyism'. Kind of like priveledged white guys saying that racism is way overblown. Sorry old white guys, you had your run. Hope you enjoy it while is lasts.

Sort of mclarkez1980.

Nobody is opposed to women having dignity in the workplace, that should have been the case years ago. What I have a problem is Hollywood's perpetual hypocrisy, they like to wag the finger at the general public but don't back up their preaching with deeds.

Harvey Weinstein is a pig that should be spit roasted, Louis CK behaved like a pucurone. However, I have a problem with Kevin Spacey's downfall. Obviously he doesn't have a cult protecting, John Travolta and Tom Cruise have done far worse.

This is all lie and a big fake drama. No one care really what's happened with those women or men on the couch. What we really see in Hollywood is a big fight for the power.
The guys want to redistribute the market and the media got permission to attacks a few big shots there.
If you own the media or Hollywood, you can control people. Yes those old school guys must go, but trust me the new sheriffs are won't be better.

I did not say what percentage of the cases are without merit.... you just assumed that I thought the majority were fake. Wrong... I assume the majority are valid, but this can easily ramp up to a type of McCarthyism where a woman can target anyone she dislikes and the man will be assumed guilty without trial and have his life ruined. Al Franken was probably railroaded for political purposes, for example.

Yea... and you probably think Roy Moore's teenage girlfriends were asking for it.

No doubt the movie industry seems shady, but there's surely lots of good people too. The MeToo hashtag is now spread and used by anyone who wants to tell their tale about sexual harrassment. And the whole thing is basically an aim at guys.

The thing is, and I'll be honest, most people don't give a shit that a million people want to tell their tale. And I can tell that is fact because a lot of the people tweeting it kept it secret themselves and only now tweet it because Alyssa Milano encouraged people to do it. If someone doesn't want to act upon someone sexually assaulting them, and only resorts to tweeting it 10 years later, it goes to show people are weak and don't want to stand up for themselves.

Nobody ever said it's ok for a woman to be sexually assaulted.

The key difference is that men and women are different. The fact MeToo is probably tweeted 99% by women doesn't mean zero guys get taken advantage of at work either..... whether it's sexually abused or a different kind of abuse. The difference is that most guys don't care, or will bother doing a MeToo campaign. It's just something that guys usually do.... and that is suck it up.

For example at an old shitty job as a summer student, my female supervisor palmed my tit. No joke. I was wearing some name tag thing and some reason she took a liking to it. Instead of just looking at it, or maybe just gently touching the tag, she literally put her whole hand on my tit. So some 40 year old supervisor grabbed my 20 year old chest. Looking back pretty stupid thing to do, but to be honest I didn't really care. Not because I had a hard on for her or anything, I just didn't give a shit.

It's like crude jokes and toilet humour. I bet anyone here that men are likely to laugh at stupid and dirty jokes more than a woman. On the other hand, women seem to get more disgusted at dumb jokes. I can't tell you why that is but it is. It's been that way whether it's kids at 10 years old joking at recess or 50 year olds with a family.

So given that, the campaign looks one-sided. And nobody even knows what is even defining MeToo. There's a big difference between someone getting sexually assaulted, and someone who takes offence to a coworker making a pass at her because he likes her and wants to take her out for a date. Or if a man wants to flirt a bit, that may be seen as a sexual assault.

But somehow the women who dress provacatively, dolling themselves up, and sucking up to bosses by laughing at all their jokes is ok, and not sexual abuse even though they are flaunting themselves around the office and everyone is whispering behind her back what the hell is she doing walking around like that?

The problem with blankets protests like this is that it puts the bullseye on unintended people. It's really no different than BLM or the reasons for increasing minimum wage.

BLM's message was cops are assholes. Very public protests brandishing all cops, when in reality the number of bad cops doing stupid things is small. but it didn't matter because Bob the parking meter ticketer is getting labeled hating Black people because there's a blanket protest going on.

Wynne saying companies should pay up because they make billions. Again, poor blanket reasons. Only a small number of companies are huge and can easily afford it by dipping into corporate coffers. However, most companies are not corporations. So that's why you never see any politician bring up $14-15/hr against Sally's Nail Salon, or that small cafe that is barely afloat because Tim's and Starbucks down the street gets all the business.

As for your line about privileged white guys, it goes to show to you have an axe to grind against white people. Bill Cosby and Tiger Woods are two black guys (Tiger is half Black) who used their power and fame to take advantage of people or do affairs. This issue more about abuse of power, than making it a "white guy vs. the world".

And besides, even if you want to believe it is a race-based issue, sorry to say, but white people (especially men) are still in power. Most business leaders, most successful and aggressive entrepreneurs, political leaders, and best paid jobs are done by guys. And even with the huge influxes of rich minorities (Asian business moguls, Black celebrities, Middle East royal princes etc....).... they are almost all men too.

Cool... let's see how you feel when you get falsely accused of sexual misconduct and you're treated as guilty without due process.

You hold such an unprincipled, naive, and racist view of the world.

I think that's the biggest issue with law and accusations. Never mind all this MeToo tweeting.

Even the normal media will have no problem saying XXXX was arrested for suspicion of a crime. Mug shot, address, age etc....

Who says the guy is guilty? Maybe he's innocent. How about some privacy? But the guy's face and info are plastered on front page news like he's a guaranteed crook. I don't see any news outlet, and I guarantee I will not see any MeToo tweeter come back and do another statement saying they were wrong and they take back the accusation.

So it's a one-sided type of thing.

Here's an idea. If convicted criminals are public knowledge, how about write an article with a mug shot AFTER he's been convicted. At least, doing it that way there's proof.

Even if it is 100% true with a conviction, you shouldn't be able to take private issues and plaster to the world person XXXX was an ass. If get my car fixed and it turns out he did a shitty job, I'm going to go on Twitter and tell the world, the mechanic Tom Johnson at Canadian Tire at the location of XXXX did a shitty job changing my oil? There's too much pinpointing. And you can see that in restaurant reviews sometimes, where a pissed off person will name a server by name that he or she did a crap job.

Take that stuff private.

It's very weird why something like this is even legal. In labour law, an employer asking a former employer about the candidate is obligated to say they did work at the place, maybe job title and duration. But they can't say something that is subjective and not proven and based on accusations. Even if that person was a total ass and late for work everyday, you can't badmouth the guy. You can get sued if he found out.
