No shit. Becoming a doctor is nearly impossible if you don’t have the Canadian education, which is silly.Professional associations in Canada run like a cartel, making the processes extremely difficult to obtain professional licenses even if the individuals have years if not decades of working experiences.
Every single province has the same problem, it‘s been a shit show in Manitoba under the NDP/Cons for decades.

This has been happening as long as i can remember & I'm in a similar situation right now. But it's been getting worse as the baby boomers (I'm in that group) are aging into retirement - including doctors too - causing even longer wait times. No simple fix unfortunately.

I never worry about a bill. I have an accident and go to a hospital - no bills. I lived in the US and was taken to the hospital by ambulance. I was in a panic that if I didn't have pre approval from my HMO - I could pay $thousands. The cost of prescription drugs is so high, there were organized bus trips to Canada & Mexico to buy drugs by seniors. I guess the grass is always greener on the other side of the border.
Let’s make it easier for immigrants to become doctors if they have the qualifications. Such a waste to see doctors and other professionals driving cabs and sweeping floors.
I used an uber a couple days ago. I could be wrong, but I highly doubt that guy was a trained doctor.
The reality is the health industry is holding patients hostage. It's a mafia.

Part of the game is create a shortage of ‘certified’ doctors so they can jack up salaries. It is literally operating like a cartel. They have little regards to average Canadians. Government & hospitals should completely demolish these associations and hire people based on their work experiences, overseas included.
The govt has no incentive to fix the broken health care system.
As morbid as it sounds, it looks like they want to wait until the baby boomers are all dead, rather than fix the system. Simple cost savings.

And even then, when the baby boomers are gone, you actually think they'll fix it? I doubt it. I'd bet 10:1 odds they won't do much better than it is now. Hmm, wish I could temporarily return to see if I'd win that bet and then spend my winnings on a bit of fun before returning to the dead.

I’m planning to retire in Thailand, great health care, weather, food, night life. All at a fraction of the cost here. You can retire there if you are 50.
how much was the bill? Were you able to partake afterwards? I was in a lot of pain when I called into work and told them I needed to talk to the HMO. If you 'select' a doctor in emerg that isn't in the plan - you can still have problems. The head of division called and told me to get the ambulance and he would handle HMO. I didn't pay anything (other normal deductions). If you are rich - you prefer private health care. The US is corrupted by lobbyists who pay the politicians. Obama care came after Ieft so I'm not sure how the rules might have changed.
BTW: A friend of mine was drafted into the US Navy. He got cancer and started a GoFundMe to help pay his medical bills. I asked him if got benefits as a vet but If you don't stay in until retirement - it doesn't carry much weight. It's fucking sad down there.

They're in the business of making money especially with all the investors involved. Once baby boomers are gone they can see where the numbers stand otherwise I'd say start privatizing stuff. Survival of the fittest. Investors aren't in it for the loss and I wouldn't be pleased losing out on what I put in.
