There was no income tax when I purchased my house in 1915. Then the Lefties went ahead and introduced a "temporary" income tax in 1917. Here is a pic of my 1918 tax return.

37 years later my house had doubled in value. It was now worth 21/3 times my gross salary/

I'll never forget how depressing Toronto seemed to me the first time I saw it. I came via Frankfurt and NYC after living in Vienna and Munich for a few months. All the cheap brick and the two story architectural junk along the Yonge St. was making me question the choice of my destination.

The Wax Museum at Yonge and Gerrard, there were street hookers hanging around that area in the early 70's.

Here's a pic (took it myself) of my first house purchased in 1915 for the outrageous price of $3,200. Had to take in boarders to pay the taxes.

The Toronto Argonauts played here in the 60s to 80s. They had some great teams there, led by Leon McQuay, Cookie Gilchrest, Joe Theismann and drew up to 50,000 fans in their heyday. The covered stands was the place to watch from and stay dry.
