Many of you may have no idea who i'm talking about ....he was one of the most believable NYPD characters i've seen on TV yet.Of course i'm referring to his stint on "Law and order".......i have to admit i never saw his early season epsiodes(that's what e-bay is for") but over the last 4 years he had become one of my favourite characters to watch on TV. His ability to steal a scence with one of his memorable one liners just left me in stitches..........I hate it when one of the great ones pass on....:(...cheers

His first stint on Law and Order was a defense attorney.

He was one of my favorites on that show. He will be sadly missed.

I've read he will be in the first few episodes of the new spin off.....i'm guessing they'll probably get some the highest ratings for the nights their on. I do however hope they just don't drop his character like nothing happened..he deserves better.

I also was quite saddened to hear of the passing of Jerry Orbach. He was really the star of Law and Order. I remember one of his best one liners. This episode involved searching for a severed penis. When a uniformed officer finds the appendage, Briscoe announces to all "We have a winner!" I nearly died laughing. I'll sure miss Jerry Orbach.

He was a good one. Much better than any of the NYPD Blue cast. At least he left behind a legacy to be proud of........being honoured on an escort review board!

Another great one liner he had. He arrested a suspect from an eastern european country, I forget which one. He said, 'How do they say you're under arrest in your language" Response "I didn't do it." Lenny - "Oh, it sounds the same in English"

He was classic. I saw his Biography. Started as a singer/dancer. Died at 69 and we seem to only know his work from the last 6-7 years. Seems strange that he wasn't more widely known before this. Can you imagine the patience to be in show biz for 40+ years before you are "discovered."

Ian mckellan comes to mind as another one who got"discovered" late in life.....those actors ..to me..are usually the best actors....they're doing it because they love it....

My favourite Lennyism was in the very first episode he appeared in. When asked what he thought of his partner Logan (Chris Noth), he replied, "I've got socks older than him!"

I love Law & Order and Jerry Orbach was one of my favourites on the show but I also loved him as Baby's father in Dirty Dancing...such a chick flick, I know ;)
