Check Canada lately Questor? There is a lot of trash that has been allowed into the country, people who think their home country is so BAD that they have to leave but bring all the things they want to leave behind with them. I have to think that if the customs and religion and other things were so GOOD why did they leave in the first place?

I agree with goalie000. This happens to be one of my favourite subjects, and I will be watching this thread with interest.

I believe we NEED immigration. We just need the RIGHT immigrants. Those that want a better life, those that will work hard and contribute to society, those that will not insist that WE change to suit THEIR needs. We should NOT allow criminals / slackers to come here (we have enough of our own).

Agreed, but easier said than done.

A boat pulls in to dock. A Tamil steps off. No papers, no records back home. What do you do? Turn them away? Based on what, the lack of evidence of doing something wrong? You do that and you might as well turn away 90% of refugees (which is fine if deep down inside you really don't want to accept refugees at all).

Don't we keep tabs on refugees? i.e., if you get convicted of a crime as a refugee, don't you get deported? (after due process, of course)

There is nothing wrong with there religion and much of their culture. Could they have left because of war and persecution?

As for these ships, it would be nice if there was a way to arrest the leaders of the tigers who are on these boats but I see no reason why we shouldn't take the rest (and yes, we could do a better job of making them become aware of what is acceptable, legal, and expected in Canada).

I guess I just find it extremely distasteful to label entire groups/ethnicities as trash. Yes, I have checked Canada lately. There are problems with the immigration system, as others have pointed out. This is not the same as labeling nationalities as garbage. Last time I looked, the English, Scottish and French settlers who came to Canada in the 16th, 17th, 18th and 19th centuries did not do such a great job leaving their cultural/religious baggage at home. As far as I can see, every ethnic/cultural group here in Canada has its share of people who do not adapt so well.

So another group of 200 Kundiani's are coming to Canada, can we afford to keep them? already the local citizen are jobless and suffering in many respects due to such a high taxation and other policies, plus now refugees are heading for Canada makes one think twice what all is going to happen over here for common Tax Paying Citizens, despatch them to Cuba Fidel Castro would happily look after them, and give them work in their cuban resorts or the refugees can work as his Security Guards.
