Nobody is going to beat this team in a four game series, they're so consistent and can adapt to any game. Ottawa is the only team with a chance in the east and they're too unpredictable and still too soft.

I can't recall when a team has been this dominant, I know they had dominant years in the past and lost but they were a young inexperienced team then. All their players are in their prime...............it's over.

Just like all those mutual funds cluttering around the good doc's desk, present prosperity is no guarantee for future success. Start the parade only when they have the cup in their hands but again only God knows. That is, if there is a God. LOL!!!

Barry Melrose of ESPN said the Wings were "hands down" the best team. So it must be true?

ESPN's basketball expert also proclaimed the Pistons as the NBA's best.

So start planning that parade, too!!!!!

Add to that the Tiger's upcoming Championship and the impending Spartan Hoops and Hockey titles and it almost makes living in Detroit tolerable. Well, that and it's close proximity to Canada.

Anaheim will definitely give Detroit a hard time and probably beat them again.

Their Defence is easily the Best in the League.

And since when did Detroit start playing a pounding physical game.

I thought it was time to resurrect this with an 'I told you so':) . That was a token win for Pittsburgh soley from adrenalin. Detroit dominated when they wanted to, even in an off game for them. Detroit wins the next two easily.

Good call (looks like). I move that you win the grand prize (which is absolutely nothing).

ground hog day

This series look like a rerun of last year to anyone else. Only thing missing now is a blowout in game 5.

Malkin is saving the pens millions because of his play, earlier in the year he was on his way to 10 mil a year possibly, don't think so now.........the east is a fluff conference that's all show and full of flakes.

compared to the west, yes- there is fluff. that will change this next season though, as there will be more interconference play. alot more- thanks to David Nonis who wants to see Crosby every year.

re Malkin: the pens wouldn't have made the playoffs if it weren't for Malkin. so he's strugglin' right now... big deal. the same has been said before for Iginla, Lecavalier, Modano, Roenick, the list goes on and on (Hossa at that age when he was in Ottawa)... Malkin's still a premium player.

How come no one picks on Staal? same draft position (#2), same # of NHL games played as Malkin, but where is Jordan's production? why isn't there pressure on him to produce?

Shall we see every nhl team struggle to mimmick the systems of the DRW's for next season... just as they did after the RW's won their last SC 10 years ago in 1998? IMO it would be better for hockey. I especially loved how tough Detroit has played.

Staal is the "shutdown" center just like Richard's and Premeau (before him where)...they aren't expected to score much...just keep the other teams scorers off the board...he's done that pretty well and he's kicked in a few goals along the way. Detroit is a very old team...with 14 players in their 30's so this may be their "swan song".

i know. my point was a sorda 'lay-off of Malkin' point. people don't realize that it's not Crosby that you have to shut down to beat the Pens, it's Malkin. stats prove this. Malkin is an integral key to their success and I think that Detroit has figured this out. When Malkin is out of the game, the pens wen't on a losing skid... when Crosby was out for that lengthy duration, we climbed from 9th to 1st and settled 2nd in the east... which is not to say Crosby sucks, he clearly does not, but Malkin sparks the team. he is a quiet leader, they have to lead by example.

agreed on the swan song. they are doing a fantastic job at it. Dallas was no pushover for them to get to the finals.

I wholeheartedly disagree on the swan song, their d is young, Lidstrom has a few more years, Chelios isn't playing so they don't miss him. Their main forwards are in their prime. Throw in a possible Sundin who will shine in a lesser role.

Their problem will be what happens to every other cup winner recently, the desire just isn't there the following year.

I agree about Malkin, I think his talent is unmatched.
