Is there anybody out there who can help me with recording a live radio stream (and video for that matter) over the internet? I've tried several programs including wave pad and nothing I do works. I have a Toshiba Satellite Centrino Duo with a realtek hd audio. The only thing I can think of is to put a cable into the phones jack and record onto a minidisc - but then the output won't be digital. I'm hoping for a FREE solution to this annoying problem.

Please help!!!!!!!

I do this all the time with 'Sound Recorder' an app that comes standard on Linux.
Sound Recorder enables you to record ANY audio played on your PC speakers. You hear it, you can record it with perfect digital quality as good as what you hear. I save it as mp3 files at any bitrate desired from 64-320 bitrate. However these audio files can also be saved as FLAC, OGG or WAV if you don't want MP3. The choice is yours and of course all FREE!.....;)

Don't know if this helps but you can get streaming apps that record. I use tunein radio on my phone (the pro version) and that records. I've never used that feature however so I don't know how good it is.

Considering that the OP started this thread back in October 2006, he's probably solved his problem long ago.

Audacity is another free excellent program that will work on Windows but it is not as simple to use as Sound Recorder in Linux. Audacity is excellent for audio editing. You can do quite a bit to fix/improve/convert sub-par audio files you may have. I've been using it for years...;)

Well it is't that great but Station Ripper V2.98.4 gets the job done for me.

In fact when it comes to Central America and the Caribbean (español) I don't how else I would get the tracks, I'm sure the distribution channel must exist or why else would at artist bother? But so far I haven't found it.
You don't find this on iTunes and there are no stores that sell CDs anymore (well very few and they don't have what I want).

I listen to Internet stations like Last.FM, Pandora, Tunein, Shoutcast and get the latest Bossa Nova jazz right out of Brazil by just recording their entire radio program with Sound Recorder, then editing out and saving any tunes desired. No need even download songs anymore....;)
