Does anyone know of a user friendly site that has listings of homes for sale. I've seen www.mls.ca are there any others?

MLS is the biggest.

If you go on to most real estate agencies web sites. They all have listings of their own.

There used to one called treb.ca...I wonder what happened to it?

Did too many people get mixed up?

www.mls.ca is the main and most complete real estate listing site for the public. This site downloads the data directly from the different real estate boards in Canada.

Real estate agents have access to a much different site that has much more information.

mls.ca is the best one to get an idea of where you're looking for, and who might specialize in that area.

Most sites or agents might list their own listings, so you might not get a view of everything available.

if you have any questions let me know, I'd be glad to help or answer any questions you may have.

Good luck!

Isn't there a site for the Toronto Real Estate Board, TREB.ca?

I found my house on toronto real estate board before agent had listing. Partly due to me looking out for me, agent looking out for whoever signs his cheque.

if I understand the question, no. there are 'exclusive' listings held by agents where the sale is not advertised on mls.ca or other venues for whatever reasons...

one such reason why a 'for sale' through agent property would not be advertised is because it may have political but non-legal interfering interests that may somehow mess up the possible sale or value of a property.

I once bought a peace of land that backed onto Glen Haffy Park along Airport Road in Caledon... the conservation authority would have interfered with me trying to buy the property had it been on a standard advertised mls listing as they had interests in expanding their conservation lands to be combined with the park... (especially because I had fishing access to their stocked creeks!)... the seller wished to keep his property private and wanted a 'good owner' for the land for whatever reason and chose to have the 'realtor' find a select buyer... turned out I was that buyer. well, I sold the land 3 months later when the Town of Caledon would not give me a building permit to build a house on the land... the next buyer (a colleague of mine) had more time to put more effort into the issue and got his permit through a lawsuit against the town... to make a long story short.. a $19k piece of land in 2002 is now worth over 1mil with a 5 year old 2600 sq ft bungalow on the acreage with riverfront access.
