Ironically, Kamloops, BC, is where the Polish visitor to Canada was from.

He was tased and died at Vancouver airport, before making it to his mom's place in Kamloops.

In a very dark place
Things are pretty bad when our "National" police force has to taser an old guy to subdue him.

Imagine the absolute shitstorm of panic that would have ensued if the old boy was also "packing" a spoon and fork!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That is the problem with these tasers the cops will never ask nor will they know the health history of the person they are about to taser and therefore there will be deaths as a result of using them. These things should be banned because some cops are not responsible in using them and think this is just another toy to gain control. They have other options. When they were just shooting to injure I believe it dreadful on a person, but if the cops had no other choice but to do this at least it was only to injure and the person could still be treated in hospital without life threatening wounds.

Kamloops is where he was going. He was from Poland.

In Vancouver, transit cops on the Skytrain have tasered people for not paying the $2 fare... just wait until transit cops in Ontario are armed.

I thought I read a national study on tasers was done and they are much quicker to use a taser in BC than any other part of the country. I guess it must be the union attitude most people in BC have where they feel if the use a taser, it will make their job easier.

If I was a cop, I'd taser just as readily; I've been told it's safe, I don't have to file gun-drawn/fired paperwork, and—best of all—it acts from a distance so there's no danger of me getting hurt. I won't even have to get my uniform cleaned. So of course I'll tase anyone who's non-compliant, and if they've made me mad, maybe even if they're compliant. Don't even have to put on the gloves first like the olden days.

I woulda made a bad cop.

Unfortunately it appears as though a large portion of those we grant authority & a small arsenal to are in the same boat :(

The RCMP should get back on their horses and stop endangering the lives of
canadians.

For crissakes, if and old man lying in bed connected to an oxygen tank with a swiss army knife
is considered dangerous, we can all be tasered just walking on the sidewalk.

Unfortunately, I truly believe, at this point...that they'll start removing the tasers from service only when reports start coming in that they (the police force) are starting to taser babies.

Or when people have had enough of thier abuse & bystanders start clocking them when they do this....

If people took the stance of "beat on sight" whenever one of these yhoos goes nuts mybe theyd think twice.... They only give fuck about their safety & egos..

Without questioning your concerns about tasers, I must point out to you that NO ONE who has any firearm training, and certainly no cop in his/her right mind EVER tries tried to shoot to "injure". You may challenge the individual decision, but when the trigger is pulled, there is one goal- kill. Which is why cops and commandoes (having made the decision) keep pulling the trigger to make sure that the bad people go down and STAY down.

Until you tried to hit a stationery target at 10 yards with a hi power (9mm or .45) you cannot grasp how HARD it is.

The use of Tasers was only ever intended to be a non-lethal alternative to the use of guns by Police.

It was never intended to be a supplementary choice.

Which means that if, as a cop, you choose to use a Taser, that you were fully prepared to draw and fire your gun in that situation.

Clearly there are a few officers out there who themselves need to experience the Justice System first hand when they themselves choose to endanger the lives of Canadians (or immigrants), perhaps because they just didn't feel like taking the time to resolve a scenario correctly.

After watching one of the vids the old man said it was not a swiss army knife even that it was just a pocket knife that he carries with him at all times. He refused that it was a swiss army knife.

No, problem I am not a gun type of girl but believed that they sometimes did shoot low as not to kill. My Dad is a gun man not I. I assumed possibly by his skills that it was possible.
