Rent, gas, food prices have gone up for her too. If that is her source of income, it goes up too. We all gotta live.

Sure they've gone up, but they haven't doubled.

My most regular and cherished squeeze/friend (bi-monthly for almost two years) has now almost doubled her rate from $300 hr. She has declined grandfathering. She says that her volume of dates has declined substantially and so she has to make it up by a substantial rate increase. I respect her decision but she is way overpriced now. I know my options; pay or move on. Does a regular long term client not have a reasonable expectation of rate grandfathering?

I appreciate that's what she's telling you, and that you believe her. There's also a chance that it's something else. One possibility: she has built up a stable of regular and consistent dates. By doubling her rates, half of them will drop off (or more) resulting in her getting maybe 70% of the total income she once had while only having to do 35% of the work. If that's her plan, it's pretty crafty tbh.
