I gave them an A. I am proud.

Canada is no longer a vastly underperforming doormat in the Summer Games. Even though we are more of a winter sport nation we won, what I believe is a Canadian record number of medals, including some very high profile events including De Grasse's 200M and Warren's decathlon golds. We won other track medals, the women were a force in the pool and of course the soccer gold. Our rowers also acquitted themselves admirably.

Gone are the days when a silver medal winner would carry our flag at the closing ceremonies. Nowadays there will be debate about which gold medal winner deserves the honour.

In Rio 2016 Canada finished 9th in total medal tally with 22. (4G,3S,15B)
In Tokyo 2021 we are currently in 11th in total medals with 23 (6G,6S,11B)

However we got 2 more golds and 3 more silvers and won some high profile events including the Decathlon for the first time. Overall I think we had a decent Olympics but there is room for improvement.
Grade B-

Australia upped their medal total from 2016 by 17. Total 46.
Netherlands upped their medal total from 2016 by 14. Total 33.

The population of Australia is about 26 million and the Netherlands is 17 million. The people of these nations should be ecstatic on how they fared this Olympics.

The highlight performances of this 2020 Tokyo Summer Olympics as a proud Canadian in my view are below:

1. First gold medal for Canada: "Maggie" Mac Neil---100 meters women's butterfly in swimming
2. Women's soccer team won the first gold medals ever in Olympics
3. Andre De Grasse---200 meters man's gold
4. Damian Warner---Decathlon man's gold

Congrats to all the Canadian athletes who present Canada to the world stage in such a professional fashion whether they win or loss in their events. Very proud! An A from me. We should remember that we have got only 2-4 months of summer each year along with our population.

Go Canada Go!

Mo Ahmed, in his 3rd Olympics, finally got a medal, Silver in the 5000 m race!, I think he could have won gold if he had started his finishing kick a few seconds earlier, as he lost by about 2 seconds.

Nobody has mentioned the most difficult achievement, so difficult it wont be in future Olympics.

Evan Dunfee took Bronze in the 50 Km Walk. It looks hilarious and it's brutal. I'm attempting to do it and I'm getting my butt kicked on the McMichael Trail. To do it for 50 Km, I'm surprised no one has died!

...I could run but what's would be the point.
