Somewhere between here and there
Had this discussions with a fellow Hobbiest.

I know its not cool when SP's send random text messages but I know a of one that use to do it well.

I would receive a random text saying "Hi Kurt its "XXXXXXX" you forgot to sign those papers, if you have time let me know if you can swing by I will be available until "XXX""
If anyone say this they would not even question it.

I don't like the one where they text and say "Hi Kurt its me I am in town" as big problems if someone sees this.

Anyone have example of other good one that work?
Similar experiences?

Hi Kurt - It's "XXXXX", I just won 555 million dollars and need to find a way to ....

I would not agree with you that it is a good one - in fact, there are no good ones, any random text will raise suspicion. Don't know if others agree...

There are a few ladies I’ve told they can text me anytime. But that’s unusual.
Mostly I wouldn’t expect an sp to ever contact me. I’ll contact you. Thanks.

Over the years I've had this happen twice, and never saw either of these ladies again. One was a well known MPA who I had seen many times, and the other was a low end asian spa on Yonge. It wasn't that I was pissed off or anything, but in my mind it broke a boundary. Unless you tell them that it's OK to send you a message, this is just plain wrong...

theyre working name matches some ladies I deal with at work all the time( member of some standing committees) so if the S/O ever questioned a name It's legit

You shouldn’t send or receive random texts unless you’ve agreed with a specific provider that it is OK. In that case, a good protocol is for you to decide on a fake name (eg:”Bob”, “Patrick”, “Donald J.”, etc) and when you want to text each other you first send an innocuous text like: “Hey Bob, did you just try to call me at home?” Then if It’s all clear, you can text back. If it’s not, you can simply say it’s a random text from somebody you don’t know.

Never send a random text to a provider either (unless there’s some pre-agreed protocol, like above) because they have private lives too.

This has worked for years and many regulars, for me. If I ever receive an unsolicited text that isn’t discrete, I’ll cross that provider off my list.

Even for single guys, you never know what can happen, someone else could be using their phone, friend, family, colleague. It's a big no no for me, I never book again with any SPs who text/call me out of the blue.

I realize that. Let me put it the long way to clarify. It's never a good thing unless the gent has told a lady he's single and it's ok to text him anytime or simply told her it's ok to text him anytime (regardless of relationship status). It's just easier to word it the way I did, using and/or.

I do most of my communication through a private personal email. So if lady's send me messages on there, it will never be seen. I don't even get the email through my phone. Texts are dangerous as someone other than your SO can use your phone or see it so I don't know why anyone would ever ask to be texted with random "I'm available" type messages unless it's a secret burner phone that never makes an appearance unless you are alone.

You're assuming it's always, "I'm available!" type messages. Sometimes it's simply, "How's life treating you?" type messages. Some clients like to hear from us from time to time for reasons other than work related.

Fair point. But either way, any text of any type might lead to a question from whoever's around and/or who sees it. I had a regular MPA send me a message months later to my email. No issue reading it when I logged on in private. If that text comes through at an inopportune time, could lead to trouble (and I'm single so I don't have a curious SO peering over my shoulder as others do).

I have no issue with communication if permission has been given. I'm not complaining about that, just the medium being generally a riskier means of communication.

I (annoyingly) get unsolicited texts from SPs and they usually read "Hi Babe" or "I'm in Markham today" or "I'll be working on Tuesday" or "It's been too long babe" and so on...

Jeeze Louise, we've already established that it's only ok if you've been given the go ahead first. Read the other thread I started about this https://terb.cc/vbulletin/showthread...cretion+Ladies. You're absolutely right, she started it very flirtatiously with "Hi hun it's _ _ _ _ _ _ ". It might not have been so bad had she said something more business sounding, even though it was wrong to randomly text him at all. He's told me exactly how to word a text should I ever need to contact him for some reason related to what he does so as not to raise suspicion. He also has me programmed in as a business (e.g. Acme Co.). I doubt he's given anyone else permission to do so as he's told me he considers me a friend, not just his amante pagato. He trusts me not to do anything asinine.

I agree with you Sophia. I have mentioned that to a few providers, that I welcome texts and DM's from them, and would never be a problem as I am single. For me a random text or message is a turn on, I like spontaneity and it builds a stronger connection.
