As a side hobby, gig, thingy I review restaurants on social media. Like them little tiktok you see and then you go on ig to write your experiences/reviews. The last restaurant I reviewed is in this place called Toronto. It’s where they have that tall building called the CN tower I believe. I’m not sure. Anyways the restaurant is called - “The Butcher Chef.” -We regularly go to Montanas...would like to try some other places...Durham region particularly....so far I have 3 in mind...Milestones, The Keg and Baton Rouge...anybody have any reviews of these places? Never been.
Try an independent restaurant instead of a cookie cutter chain. We regularly go to Montanas...would like to try some other places...Durham region particularly....so far I have 3 in mind...Milestones, The Keg and Baton Rouge...anybody have any reviews of these places? Never been.

Agreed on the subpar Milestones service in Whitby!I loved the atmosphere of the Milestones Downtown but the one in Whitby has atrocious service. The Keg in Pickering is fantastic. Have not been to the one in Oshawa since they built the new structure. Actually haven’t been all that keen to return after Swiss Chalet took over.
The Baton Rouge in Whitby used to be my go-to place before they closed. Have not been back after they reopened. I’d be curious to know if it’s a similar experience or if they’ve changed a lot.
Moxies in Pickering would be my choice now but I prefer the patio so during summer months only.
Outside of chain-restaurants, there’s Melanie Pringles, Charlie Ronick’s and Teddy’s. Each have their pluses and a litany of minuses.
If you spend a bit more, there’s Bella Notte’s, Hot Rocks, Chatterpaul’s and Bistro 67 in Whitby. All have fabulous food! I don’t have much experience with the rest of Durham, sorry.

It's run by students in their culinary program and all the fruits and veggies are grown on site - the meat is all localBistro 67 is the Durham College? I’m curious about that one, would you elaborate on your experience please?
How are the prices? It's run by students in their culinary program and all the fruits and veggies are grown on site - the meat is all local
I have had some great meal there
@Celticman took me toThe Brock House once and he could not say enough good things about the place! However, I don’t remember a single thing about that day aside from the immersive conversation about motorcycles. I have zero memories of what I ate Oh! I do remember a Terb veteran telling me about the chocolate fountain they had.I've also enjoyed State and Main in Whitby and the Brock House
I agree with the environment at State and Main it can get loud.@Celticman took me toThe Brock House once and he could not say enough good things about the place! I have enjoyed a meal or two at State and Main and while the food is alright, I do not care for the open concept of the restaurant. It makes it an exceedingly loud environment for a meal. Also, I know subway tiles are all the rage, but I hate them.
I went there once. It was kind of on the expensive side but it was a pretty spectacular meal. How are the prices?
I agree. I prefer to avoid Milestones in Whitby. I also like Bella's note; I found the food at Chatterpaul's and 67 Lean, or at least my date was still hungry. Also, the best Italian restaurant in Whitby is A Tavola which means to the table, an intimate family-owned restaurant. Their rice balls are wonderful. On Brock Street, south of Victoria, is The Lakeside Restaurant or Grill, an intimate experience with many fish dishes and meat. These latter two restaurants are on the pricier side.Try Jack astors.
