what I know about the Ram Box is that although it is very handy it changes the inside of the bed and also is susceptible to holding water and causing early rust. For these reasons I have not got this options on any of my Ram trucks

A few years ago went to look at the Prius when it was the big deal in the winter. Pull in a Toyota dealership and they have a GM Sierra plowing snow there. After checking out the Prius I ask the salesman why is a Sierra and not a Tundra plowing your lot? He justed laughed and said, "A Tundra doesn't have the balls!"The Tundra is a good truck. I was surprised how popular they are down south. I didn't ship it because it's dated and the ride is really choppy when it's not loaded.
I'm not a truck guy but would probably go for the Ford or GM depending on which gave a better ride.
I have had a couple. Liked the V6 for around town driving, and the diesel for highway.No one out there with a Ram???

this is my third ram long Horn in 6 years. My present Long Horn Ram had the new Italian made 3 litre turbo diesel engine. I pull a 24" car trailer with my race car inside no problem, tandem snowmobile trailer loaded up with ease, and a dirt bike or Seadoo is no problem. The inside is as luxurious as it gets and I have never had a problem with these trucks. Never. This is a no brainer Dodge all the way, because no other manufacturer overs a Diesel engine at the 1500 series.
All of the big manufacturers make 4-door cab pickups with 8 foot boxes. It might not be available in the 1/2-ton model in some lines however. Take a look at the 3/4-ton pickups.Oh that's an easy answer: I need an 8 foot box for plywood. They don't make any other cab configurations for an 8' box
I hear you but a 2500 model adds about 10k to the base price and I don't need the beefed up suspension that much. Ram is from Mexico and Sierra/Silverado are the same truck. Add at least a Ford into the mix. All are decent.
I'd say to take the bonkers huge savings and get this last model of current Nissan Titan... It has been around forever and has all the bugs worked out. Strong, albeit gas-guzzling, engine and good frame. Made in Mississippi.

Originally, I wanted a f150. My mechanic said he liked it except for a couple upkeep flaws. The main one was an issue with the oversized spark plugs. Apparantly they break all time time and you have to get a specialist to remove them, costing over $800 a pop.
I also noticed there were a lot more f150's available on the used truck market, and rarely any silverados. That sort of indicated to me that more consumers kept their silverados over the f150 counterpart.
But I wouldn't buy either truck unless it had a purpose, for towing or for some type of work, both of which I do.

It was a two piece design that would separate. There are new replacement single piece plugs.
There are more used f150s on the market because more were sold to start.
If you want serious engine issues ask about the GM V8 that deactivates cylinders. Major Lifter issues after 12000okm.
Also the 5.7 Hemi snaps timing chains because of sludge buildup. Chrysler won't admit to it. A recall would bust them.
I got the Ram w 5.7 Hemi. Kind of hard on gas, especially if I'm towing my mid-size toy hauler.
I bought an almost 'bottom of the line' model because it was so cheap but functional. $25K plus a few minor options. I'm a low milage guy - only about 15K per year, but I absolutely love it. And you can drive a lot of miles for the price difference to the more efficient newer engine / transmission combos.
FYI, I did not like GM's suicide doors.
