There's a demonstration Saturday, Dec, 6th, 2008 from noon to 2pm in Queen's park and other cities across Canada to show the government that you can't do back room deals to overturn the results of the last election, just to satisfy some personal lust for power.

I have never been to a demonstration in my life. However, if I was in Canada, I would attend this one.

What a poor excuse for a rally, this isn't a coup d'etat. I wonder if it will be as sorry as Harper's pro Iraq War rally.

Sorry at least get your insults right. It makes your appear lame, er lamme....

You meant to say "Prime Minister Harpo prorogued Parliament to satisfy his personal lust to maintain power."

However I would counter that it was done to delay an election, since it was going to be one or the other.

This is a good opportunity to pick up some hot, anti-coalition chicks. Speaking of which, I'm totally hot for the GG right now.

Why? Has the coalition collapsed?

At the range!!!
I really want to go but I'm a bit selfish with my Saturdays. So instead I've decided to protest elsewhere by shooting Military Style Semi-Automatic Weapons at cardboard targets that mildly resemble the human form. :D

.

Can't blame the PM for wanting to do the job that he was elected to do.

If you sucker punch the sitting government then expect them to fight back.

If you really want to find someone with a real lust for power, then you don't know... Jack. :p

I would attend a protest against all our politicians. I think they are all proving what a bunch of idiots they truly are.

I also would suggest that we insist that none of them get paid during the Prorogue period...

This a copy and paste from the website
gjhall: come defend democracy tomorrow! No democratically elected parliament has the right to hold our PM to account! Viva Il Duce.

These rallies must be organized by Harper's goons to try to stifle the democratic proccess. It is very obvious that the organizers don't give a dam about parlimentary process

As usual you have this backwards - it was to thwart the lust for power of the 3 stooges and their siezing of power by bypassing the election process,

Fortunately the average Canadian is a little brighter than you and polls indicate that they understand.

It appears as if the NDP and Liberals have done themselves a lot of short term harm with this gambit while solidarity with the Bloc has strengthened.

Wondeful job there Jack and Celine.

Nothing like a good early morning rant against lamme and his buds :D

Harper was elected to a Minority because people did not trust him, he tried to govern as though he had a majoity...he lost that gamble. Now he prorouged parliament just so him and Mrs Harper can blow our tax $$ and send him to the Obama inaugeration 6 days before he is fired.

No body sucker punched any one. Harpo shot himself in the foot and now wants every one to suffer for his idiotic bullying behaviour.

The vote of non confidence is the correct response to the non economic pro statement and once the the government falls to a non confidence motion is only right to see if there is an individual who has the support of the house of commons and can form a government.

Its called parlamentary procedure.

According to all the opinion polls people trust the coalition even less. The latest one by COMPAS actually has Tory support up to a whopping 51% if an election was held today. I'd say the coalition has lost this gamble.

I went to the rally.

Personally I don't think the coalition will hold together but it was still good to go out and voice my opinion. I think the main reason people go to these things is to feel like you've done something.

There was about 200 to 300 people. It was very civilized. There were about a dozen or so pro-coalition people there. They were loud, rude and tried to provoke a confrontation, with the cops standing just behind them. I over heard a couple of people yelling it out.

There were some people who don't support the conservatives but are against the coalition.

There was one thing I have mixed feelings about. There was a guy with a large Canadian flag on a pole flying it upside down. I learned a little about flag etiquette back in scouts and that is supposed to be a sign of distress. Most people thought that was disrespectful to the flag and called him an idiot.

I get the point he was trying to make but I still think it was disrespectful.

I was at Queen's Park today for the rally...first time I was ever at a rally. I am now an energized and active participant in politics.

Special thanks to the NDL party!
