I spent a fair bit of time in Hungary. IIRC there was a political party that was more or less the "anti-gypsy" party.

I also heard many, many antisemitic comments. It is just part of EE culture.

Anybody familiar with EE society and racism?
Ukrainians and Poles have always been known to have a strong racist element. They are known to have collaborated with the Nazis in the running of concentration camps.
"Between 1918 and 1921, there were 1236 violent incidents against Jews in 524 towns in Ukraine. The estimates of the number of killed range between 30,000 and 60,000.[1][2] Of the recorded 1,236 pogroms and excesses, 493 were carried out by the Petlura's soldiers, 307 by independent Ukrainian warlords, 213 by Denikin's Army, 106 by the Red Army and 32 by the Polish Army.[3]
1500 Jews were killed in Proskurov in February 1919, by a brigade of UNR troops.[2] In Tetiev on March 25 1919, 4000 Jews were murdered by Cossack troops under the command of Colonels Cherkovsky, Kurovsky and Shliatoshenko.[4]
During the Russian Civil War the Jews of Uman were subjected to two pogroms in 1919, as the town changed hands several times. There were 170 victims in the first pogrom in spring and more than 90 in the second one in summer. This time the Christian inhabitants helped to hide the Jews. The Council for Public Peace, with a Christian majority and a Jewish minority, saved the city from danger several times. In 1920, for example, it stopped the pogrom initiated by the troops of General Denikin.[5]
The propaganda organs of the Communist Party attempted to put the blame of all the Jewish pogroms on Symon Petlura. The Central Committee of the Communist Party of Ukraine prepared a special document in order to compromise Petlura in the Schwartzbard court case.[6] However, some modern sources claim that the white Volunteer Army was the main perpetrator of pogroms, and some were instigated by the Directory's forces, esp. the irregular otaman-led groups. The Red Army was also responsible for some pogroms.[7]"
They discriminate against Russians, Tartars, foreigners, Romas, Lgbt.

Families of the Euro soccer players will not go to the games because of fear of being harassed. My friend a Korean pharmacist got harassed to death while working at the pharmacy on Roncesvales by the Polish customers because of her background. Yes its a big problem.

It all came together for me as I watched this video, and reflected on my own experiences with EE women here in Toronto, and the two videos I came across of Russians beheading immigrants while alive using knives. Seems like a very different world over there.

These populations are very homogeneous.

Ethnic breakdown of the 38 million people living in Poland is:

93.7% Polish
2.1% Silesian
0.6% Kashubian
0.3% German
0.1% Ukrainian
0.1% Belarusian
3.1% other

Ethnic breakdown of the 46 million people living in Ukraine is:

77.8% Ukrainians,
17.3% Russians,
4.9% others

However, the situation is real, and if you are a visible minority, yes you need to be very aware of it. In some places even if you are visibly (by dress) a Westerner there may be problems.
I've read this before. If you aren't Slavic sometimes there is trouble.

Some have criticized the video saying it's biased and that one could make a video showing the same thing happening in soccer stadiums in the UK. Although I've never watched soccer, I highly doubt this goes on in stadiums in England.

Outside of business settings a lot of Western men have "russian clothing" it is fairly easy particularly in smaller cities to go to the clothing markets and pick-up local clothing.

Yes there is football/socer violence in the U.K. But there isn't nearly the order of out of the stadium violence.

What goes on in UK soccer games is worse in terms of hooliganism and violence. I was surprised the video does not mention that at all.

i've only gone to one soccor game at bmo field. i would never take a son or daughter. everybody yelling, swearing, very unpleasant. there are sports that appeal to the sophisticated (like golf and lately to a lesser extent tennis) and then sports that appeal to the baser people. music too. pick where you go. i'd say baseball is in the middle altho with the acquisition by jay z, that may be going downhill too. i don't know why the officials allow it.
