The linked article is from 2010 but still valid to-day. We need a raccoon cull then and we need one now.

Have a Gammo air rifle. .22 caliber, 15 grains, 1200fps. Stupid accurate out to 60 yards. Can hit the eyes on fly per se. Good for all pest, small game.
Should add I no longer live in the city where stupid by laws and feel good policies have created a racket for “pest removal”. And live release.
pay $600 for someone trap them, and release them 1km away, so they become your neighbors $600 problem. And whether you pay someone to trap them or diy. They become someone else’s $600 problem. Ant that is assuming they don’t get into attics, breed over winter and then the repair bill is much higher.

But your friendly neighbour(s) will report you to the authorities. Raccoons are a protected group (one of many) in Toronto.
