Great COrena! Keep it up, just remember though, it takes a very long time to Kick the addiction and don't think that you can have the occasional "scoial" cig, that could lead to starting up all over, not preaching here, just giving you encouragement and advice(from someone that quit for a year and started having "Social" cigs , and had to re quit a second time)

Oh Ben....don't i know that...this isn't my first time making it this far. I quit once for 6 monthes about 11 years ago. I went out drinking and SHA BAMMM...i started back and never was nearly as successful again until this time. This time i don't want to go back. ever, because i when asked how long i smoked for, i never took that or any other of my "quit breaks" out. If i was to go back now...I will have been a smoker for 20 yrs and i just can't do that.

I do still want one...not everyday anymore, but at least weekly sometimes more. I will probably want one every now and then for the rest of my life but if i want to stay a non-smoker...i can't even have one!

For all you quitters, from a quitter: folks who study addiction have more than once stated that, once established, nicotine is as firmly fixed an addiction as heroin and as hard to quit. Is it reasonable to expect anything that tough to be accomplished the fiirst time you tackle it? So don't beat yourself up for slipping (if you do). Just put that attempt down as training for the BigOne and plan the next.

It may make it even harder on the really tough, first few days, if tell yourself you're never going to have another puff, and it made it easier for me just to think that I was only postponing that next ciggie—like you learned you could do when your workplace went smoke-free. Remind yourself you can do that. Only now you'll postpone right thru a coffee break, or right past that first beer after work.

Remember, you're teaching yourself a new set of habits, and a good teacher encourages by focussing on the student's first small successes—likecorena's software does. And you will have some success every day you try. Stay with the success, not the failure.

After twenty years, I still have the odd moment where I think how good a Gitane would taste. But now I think of it like looking at a picture from a long ago holiday. Luck and success to all.

Congratulations on your sucess as an ex- smoker , never light up again! not even one ... it would lead you back to the deadly smelly addiction .

Seems that many only stop this when they have a crisis in their life from it...which by then is often to late.
