I quit smoking in 2005 after smoking for approx. 45 years so I've been through it and realized that the cravings and urges will pass. So just try to ride it out one second at a time. Don't think about later or tomorrow. Another trick that works is from Smoke Enders. Save your cig butts and put them in a jar with some water and tighten the cap. Let it ferment for a few days and then when you want a cig take a whiff of the jar! The stench cured me from wanting to smoke..........I can tell you that much.

Smoked for 20 years and quit 5 years ago cold turkey. I found the information on this site helped me more than anything else: whyquit.com
It explained what I was going through, what to expect, and how to deal with cravings.

I had tried the patch and gum before and failed each time. They just prolonged the addiction. Cold turkey is what worked. It's like any other drug, you just have to stop putting that chemical in your body if you want to break free.

Good Luck!

Prepare for 3 weeks of hell. Exercise and eat well. Avoid smokers and beverages linked to smoking ( coffee and booze)...after 3 weeks, you should be proud and strong enough to go back to normal life but without the poison. Don't try the "just one puff" cop out because that is a major fail. Good luck.
