Obama knows he has to do whatever he can to get his bill through. After all he did not ask the house and senate to come up with a health plan, he ordered it. If he does not get it passed he is finished. He knows that and so do his puppet masters.

Nancy is the head master. Did you notice his first few months in office, whenever he spoke, Nancy's voice came out?

Well the voice became his but the words are still scripted by others.

Obama is a motivational speaker not a leader.

Unfortunately the Obama Administration flubbed the ball on this one.

The real issues are: the ever increasing cost of health coverage, the number of people caught in the middle (i.e. the poor get free health care and the rich can afford it, while likewise Governmental employees and those employed by major corporations have no worries) those who are self-employed or employed by small businesses. And of course in what way can costs be reduced.

From the get go, no one has been able to say this is the plan. The President says nonsense of course that isn't in the plan - but does he actually know? Unfortunately neither he, nor any of the rest of us truly do know.

On top of this the President has repeatedly tried to ram health care legislation through Congress with only the most minimal of debate and discussion. Acting as though he was dealing with a house fire rather than an important legislative initiative.

Maybe it's the lost leader in this debate and was there to be given over if needed.
Check his speeches going back to his entry into politics.........He supports a single payer plan. Abandoning that and only enhancing Medicad and Medicare is a defeat to him.

He really needed to go single payer, pull in the blue dogs by any means necessary and jammed it down the GOP's throat while singing I have a mandate. Four years later they would love it more than medicare and Social Security. No more Mr Nice Guy.

I heard an interesting point today and it will no doubt raise a few hackles but when did that ever stop me.

Over the last 40 years, it's been well observed that when any types of aid is suggested by the government in power; food assistance, housing assistance, and such, almost by default, from the democrats, there would arise a cacophony of 'let the lazy so and so's fend for themselves', 'don't touch our programs' and 'them' are often inferred as illegals, coincidentally directly corresponding to a large increase in population of blacks and hispanics. It just so happens this subtle inference corresponded to 'the final death moans of the blatant segregation in many parts of the US and the large increase in the population of hispanics and blacks.

Before the late 60's it was less obvious and boisterous especially after the depression and WW11 because them was us. Racism and bigotry is alive and well in the US of A, it's just sneakier now. These underprivileged are often depicted in various media using the same faces.

This point hit home hard with me because I heard on more than one occasion, in the last few town hall debates, the massive opposition to 'them', the how many thousand if illegals in the US. Were they going to qualify for assistance. The outright hatred burst through for just seconds time and time gain. Then shock of shocks, the politicians would lower themselves, knowing that these were their constituents/voters and said these illegals would never qualify.

Yet if 'them' were sent home packing how big would the effect be on the US economy in general be and in particular states on the borders and coastal boundaries.

It's my thinking that when the health program is put through in whatever form, 'them' will be given an amnesty and quickly become us, add to the tax base, better contribute to the economy and help pay for whatever increase may occur. The moneys used for the INS's fight against this kind of 'foe' can be spent elsewhere. Welcome aboard whoever you are. Remember most of you/us came to this little corner of the world from somewhere.

Mind you, the no mind rednecks will something or someone else to spew about in no time.

That's my thoughts. He needs some "Bush Balls".George .W.Bush was 6 different kinds of stupid but when he said something he didn't care what anyone said.He did it.

President Obama should go to these "Blue Dogs" and say"Lads,I need your support..I really do..and you don't want to give it..so be it..but come 2010 I'll take my substantial political capital and see to it none of you have jobs in 2010.I'll shake as many babies and kiss many hands as need be to get people in office who ARE going to be loyal to their democratically elected commander-in-chief.Open season on me is over. Now get to fuck out of my office!!"......Bush balls

Bush had balls? He's a steer. I'm sure I saw them hangin' from an F-100's universal, the last time I was in the states. I just can't remember which one. The others around him had the balls and they led him by the nose ring.

The problem with this line of argument at least as it involves healthcare in the U.S. is: The poor are already covered, the real crisis as I've previously mentioned is among the those middle class persons who are self-employed or work for or own small businesses, they do not qualify for government sponsored low income healthcare, yet the costs of healthcare are such that in many cases they cannot afford it.

Second, to pretend that illegal aliens are not a significant portion of Hispanics in the U.S. is the height of "political correctness"

So is what the OP said correct? If so, is this any surprise? It's the USA. Only winner deserve to live, losers can die for all they care. Isn't that what this debate is all about? Or am I mistaken?

It is really all about five words: The affordability of health insurance.

Your not wrong there, but my major point was it's hard to tell in these town hall meetings who's middle class, but you sure can tell who the bigots and racists are, when this anger pokes through their rhetoric. When they yell out 'how we goin' to pay for this' I laugh because any reasonable examination and understanding will show in the most basis terms you save here and spend it there. Too many of these lard butts can't balance their wallets and they're screaming the loudest. Taken a peek at their personal depth figures lately.

My only concern is why so many working papers in the pipeline? My lack of understanding in the finer workings of the two chambers in the US government really hinders my understanding of this. Here in Canada, we try to have one bill, one draft, one vote, sort of. I't hard enough to get ten provincial leaders to work together and we have to keep it really simple.
