I think he is wise in suggesting the Dem's not go too far left. I respect Bernie and his ideas but American's are just not ready for that kind of revolution.

"“The average American doesn’t think we have to completely tear down the system and remake it. And I think it’s important for us not to lose sight of that,” Obama said. “There are a lot of persuadable voters and there are a lot of Democrats out there who just want to see things make sense. They just don’t want to see crazy stuff. They want to see things a little more fair, they want to see things a little more just. And how we approach that I think will be important.”

Even as we push the envelope and we are bold in our vision, we also have to be rooted in reality and the fact that voters, including the Democratic voters and certainly persuadable independents or even moderate Republicans, are not driven by the same views that are reflected on certain, you know, left-leaning Twitter feeds,” Obama said.

Obama is not a progressive.

Right now there is a struggle between progressives and corporatist right wing Democrats.

Does this make Obama a deplorable? Maybe a white nationalist?

Bill Maher was saying that and I kinda agree. Maher has gone off the rails as of late though.
When he said Any Klobuchar could come up the middle to win I nearly spit out my drink.

He is, in essence a multi millionaire who hates the thought of a real progressive in office. His guest choices reflect this. As do his statements.

Fake News!!
Miami news station interview in 2012, in defense when some Cubans said he was a socialist. It's live and reported in such fake news as the hill, ABC, and the like.

Of course add in no troops out of any war theatre, Adding more in Syria, Mali and the Congo. Not Closing Guantanamo Bay prison, all broken promises adds to this.

As well as hiring Goldman Sachs to oversee the bailout.

And little things like showing up in Flint, drinking a glass of water and saying everything is fine when it isn't.

Oh and deporting over 3,000,000 (a higher per capita than Trump) and allowing all the private holding centres to be built and funded.

Hmmmmm

Don't forget fascist. The post 2016 Dems have gone so far off the rails, their own beacon of progress became reactionary and odious. Maybe that's the great appeal of Biden, corruption and everything else.

He admitted he governed as a Moderate Republican.
He governed as a liberal Democrat in the same realm of Jimmy Carter. High tax. High regulation. High debt. Low growth. Appointed constitutional revisionists to the courts. Luckily he didn't have control of the House or Senate during most of his tenure.

He was referring to The Republican Party of "25 years ago", and not the present generation during his 2012 interview. Just goes to show how much to the right the present day Republican Party has drifted as they opposed basic policies like Affordable Healthcare, and higher taxes for the elitist in society to help address the deficit etc. The Cubans who live in Florida are vehemently opposed to anyone associated with Socialism, and that is how the Republicans portrayed Obama to be. But you are a right winger and a presumably "Bernie Sanders" supporter, are you not a fan of any Universal Health care or Heath Care to cover all the Americans that Obama tried to implement against a huge Republican opposition??

Remember that Bush created the biggest mess in the Middle East. Whatever Obama did to address it will always be condemned by the right wingers. He eventually pulled troops out of Iraq, but that was because there was practically a civil war waged by the Sunni Muslims of the former Iraq Army under Saddam Hussein. By then the Americans had trained the Iraqis to fight their own battles.
However, the mess in Iraq was out of control by then, and that is what sparked the roots of ISIS. But Obama would never have betrayed the Kurds like Trump did. Sheesh!!

Stephen Miller is Jewish. Can the left get more stupid.
Can the right get any more stupid.
Assuming that white extremacists doesn't lead to anti-Semitism.
This is why calling for Stephen Miller’s resignation wouldn’t change much. Neither Miller nor Bannon “made” Trump the white-supremacist-in-chief. And Trump is not the only problem either, as Joe Biden seems to believe. He won the Republican primaries, and presidential elections, not despite white supremacy but because of it.

In short, it is time for Democrats to face and name the ugly truth: the Grand Old Party is a party steeped in white supremacy. It is the basis of its electoral support and this will not change in the near future. By focusing on the most brazen examples, like Stephen Miller, Democrats strengthen the misguided belief that the Republican party is a good party with some bad apples. Ultimately, this will help the Republicans more than the Democrats.

It also shows how far to the right the Dems gave drifted if he is governing like Reagan.

Or do you think Reagan was a lefty? That's Obama describing himself remember. As a Reaganesque figure.

The Dems vote unanimously for legislation like Trump's last Pentagon Budget. And actually gave MORE than he asked for. Continue to support private big med. And take money from all the worst lobbyists.

Have you looked into the corporate history of the latest entrant into the race? Deval Patrick, Democrat.

Worked for Bain Capital, Romney's vulture capital firm, worked for Texaco(board member and lawyer) and for Ameriquest, the WORST sub prime lender and foreclosure after getting their bailout.

And he was supported by Obama to run. That's the leadership of the Modern Democratic party at its finest.

Add in the Bloomberg feels comfortable as a Dem. That says it all as well.

Btw. Biden doesn't support universal healthcare. Not Mayor Pete. They support privatized healthcare. Period.

Obama didn't govern like Reagan. The political climate was just different.

The two parties once had stronger moderate branches. In the not so distant past, you could find Senators and House Reps from both parties with more commonality. Legislation routinely had more bipartisan support.

Well he thinks so.

Reagan was more of a lefty. He actually sent the S&L banksters to jail. Pulled troops out of Beirut, spoke to Russia and got a Missile treaty, and spoke to people without acrimony. Also did the immigration amnesty

Obama kept troops in the two wars. Added three more. Became the drone king, the deporter in Chief, built the migrant detention centres, toppled Gaddafi, and bailed the banksters while not even considering fraud charges for the subprime/debt repackaging sell off while betting on the markets they would fail. And put them in charge of figuring out who got what.

Reagan never would have done that.

It was indeed a different age. We are now in the Gilded Age part deux.
