Dave, your not into golf obviously.The Colonial is this weeks pro golf tounament.It is part of the men,s tour.Annika Sorenstam is a lady pro golfer who got invited to play in this tournament. First time this has happened in half a century BTW, Foot Joys is a brand name of golf shoes. Hope you didn,t mind my little shot at you..you seem to have a great sense of humour.

I would be pleasantly surprised if she makes the cut.

The Colonial has been a popular tour event for many years.

Tiger is one of many players who truely wish her well.
I would not question Tiger's sincerity and honor.

Highly unlikely Vijay would not have been paired with her.
Sponsor's exemptions never get paired with the elite pros.
They could have played together on the weekend if the scores worked out in such a way.
Vijay took alot of heat for his comments, and rightly so IMO.
I think he wanted to avoid more criticism and the possibility of finishing lower than a woman.

I hope she makes the cut, but I don't think she will. She has zero margin for error because of her distance disadvantage.

As for Vijay, it was actually impossible for him to be paired with Annika due to the formula they use for groupings... he stated as much in his now-famous quote.

Honestly, I think Singh meant it when he said that if he won, he would skip the Colonial (alot of PGA players skip tournies after they've won)...

As good as Annika is, I think the first girl/woman who will strike fear in the hearts of male golfers (so to speak) is Michelle Wie... 14 years old and she knocks it out 300+yrds... scary. She'll prolly be the first to *qualify* legitimately...

This is a little off topic but I did a search on "Annika" and "Michelle Wie" and was brought to the LPGA.com website. And guess what? I found a real nice looking girl who goes by the name of Crisitie Kerr ... she's hot !!!

If she is playing at her normal level (i.e. not distracted by the media attention), I think she will make the cut.
I doubt it that she would finish within the top 20.
Anyway, for Annika, this is a challenge & to prove to herself where she stands among the male golf pros. For the public, this is just a novelty, like any celebrity game. It will help create awareness of LPGA.
Just look back at the Battle of the Sexes between Billy Jean King (at the peak of tennis career) & Bobby Riggs (a retired golf pro, not a tennis pro but a good tennis player/hustler), it attracted a lot of attention, & subsequently more revenue for ladies tennis & more income for the lady tennis pros.

I believe that she and Tiger both have the same mangement, so that may have something to do with his support. It would be more supportive if he were playing, which he isn't.

Is it just coincidence that she got paired up with a couple of real no names with no clout? I'm not sure if I ever heard of them.
