Point is there are ALREADY mechanisms in place to prevent their release. So why not allow the Judges and experts to make the decision.
Because I believe the parameters should be expanded. And that is not for judges to decide. It it through democracy and parties elected that community standards are put in place. And nothing is absolute and settled.

While I don't like USA style three strikes and your out style legislation, I think the definitions of habitual and societally dangerous criminal behavior should be expanded. And it's pretty easy to start with multiple murders. After that repeated usage of firearms/weapons in the commission of crimes.

Expanding the guidelines for judges to use to protect law abiding citizens is a good thing.

How do you know. Killing a cop in commission of a crime is first degree murder. So what if there is a car chase and two cops die then what?
Strawman again. There is a clear difference between pulling a trigger and the police choosing to engage in a chase.

However I think adding charges for reckless endangerment in a public setting, along with vehicular homicide charges are appropriate.

Really anytime in the commission of a crime if someone does as a direct result of actions taken by the criminal added charges are appropriate. Dead is dead. And actions matter.

Another Conservative fascist. How many murderers have reoffended after serving 20 years? And for the really horrific ones like Olsen and Bernardo there are already laws to prevent their release. So just a useless idea that weakens our constitution with no net gain for society and lots of wasted money.
It’s not only about re-offending but about those who murdered multiple people. Eg if you kill 6 conservatives, you will not be eligible for parole for 150years.

And why you call him fascist for wanting longer punishment for serial killers?

You lefties are totally fucked up.

at 100K a year, that makes no sense whatsoever. What I would allow them to do is be eligible for MAID after serving 5 years in prison. That way they can restore some honor by atoning for their crime with their own life.
Seriously? No lifer is going to take up that offer.

I agree Polievre is wrong to state he will use the notwithstanding clause but to call him a fascist is utterly hyperbolic.

If someone commits 5 pre-meditated murders then in my opinion they should not be eligible for parole ever. A life sentence should be a life sentence. I think whatever remedy we have to change the Constitution to reflect this should be done. I would argue that the vast majority of Canadians would agree with this. Allowing serial killers the opportunity to seek parole after 25 years is at best a waste of resources and at worst cruel and undue punishment for the families of the victims.
Took the words right out of my mouth. Just think of the sheer hell families must go through, each time one of these killers comes up for a parole hearing. These killers had all the rights and freedoms that everyone else has. Only they chose to kill. I don't see how anyone feels sorry for them being denied parole. Maybe you'd think differently if they killed one of your loved ones. It shouldn't however take that to change your mind.

Fuck the killers!

Please show me where someone has killed 5 people and been paroled ? Once again using a non-issue out of desperation. IMHO the biggest problem is the police do not deal well with petty crimes and those go on to bigger crimes. The cops are not at ALL interested in property crimes. If they held these people accountable, they would be less likely to progress to more serious crimes. Life sentences for drug dealers, another idiotic Harper type non-solution

Thankfully Canada doesn't have many mass killers, however the fact that these four murderers are eligible for parole after 25 years is disgusting. All of these families will have to relive the horrors of the day their family members were killed. Justice for the families would be never having to think of these pieces of garbage getting a chance at freedom. It's disgusting.

Here's more examples of human garbage that should be behind bars for a lot longer than they have been.

Whelp, looks like in the history of the country, the only serial killer to have been released is Carla Homolka. Every other one died in prison, or is still in prison.

1 release per 150 years is pretty good imho.
I was referring to people who are repeat offenders for the same crime being released over and over again. ie gun crime, car theft, etc. How well has the system worked for those offenders?

This question for the rightie PEE PEE supporters, WHY is Doug Ford so against Pee Pee and pretty much endorsing Carney without coming right out and saying he's voting for Carney?

The Carney supporters are welcome to poke and taunt the Pee Pee supporters because Dougie is one of us cheering for CARNEY CARNEY CARNEY!!!

The truth hurts': Poilievre wouldn't be losing if he had my campaign manager, Doug Ford says

Ford-Carney relationship could provide federal Liberals with crucial boost in Ontario

I think it's as simple as Ford wants Carney to win because he wants to become the leader of the CPC and take a run at being PM in the next election.

I don't think so. He's never been fond of Pee Pee. Pee Pee is I'm sure an arrogant fuck in real life as he is in public life. I don't believe Pee Pee even congratulated Ford on his last victory, the souless piss stain. LOL
