College teachers in Ontario rejected the latest offer so they could strike next week. I don't think they will as they only got a 57% strike vote, that is very low.

Yes, but management knowing they only got 57% does not put the union leaders in a strong bargaining position. On the other hand, they just rejected the most recent offer......... as long as it is over the threshold, they go on strike, not how much over the threshold!
most unions want a 80% + vote. They were offered a three year deal 1.75%, 2% and 2% un ion is asking for 2.5% each of the 3 years, I'd say not worth the strike. Workload is also a big item and some benefits
When you look around, and there is 8.5% unemployment in this country - which means it's really about 15%, and most people got 0% or even a hair cut, one wonders as to the logic of striking over .75% and .5%.
I'm taking a couple of courses right now at Humber. I asked the teacher about how the strike might impact Continuing Education. It was clear that she did not want to go on strike - especially in January. I told her maybe they could set up a few fire barrels for them.

I would certainly mark them to market - tell them what the market wage is for their average background.....

cannot do that we have different labour laws here in this country, thank the Lord. 2.5% is a fair wage increase these days. I believe it's over benefits and workloads
