Last summer there was a report of a similar program in Africa, offering PCs running Linux for under $100.

That is the Quanta Computer Inc.OLPC (One Laptop Per Child), an idea from MIT . The Quantas laptop is planned to be produced in volume of 10 million the first year at a price of $150.

I've been playing around with Linux for a couple months and it really impresses me so far. The way Linux has improved there is no need to have to rely on just Windows or Mac.

Which version are you using?

Using an old 2004 Fedora Core I got from a friend.
Set it up as a `dual boot system` so that either XP Pro or Fedora can be run.
This way I have XP as a backup and it gives me a chance to learn Linux. So far no problems, the dual boot setup runs great.
There`s more on it in the Linux thread in the Technology forum here on TERB.
