I went over 240 km/h once. I didn't even know I was going that fast until I looked down. It is very easy to do if you have a vehicle that can.

To go fast. However, by the sounds of things in this incident, the driver is likely still in custody, right where he should be, in my view. Sincerely, Jon .

I think if you're caught doing over 200km/hr on any Canadian highway you should have your drivers license permanently suspended

Unfortunately the result of this will be an unlicened, uninsured, illegal driver on the road with the rest of us. If he behaves himself, chances of getting stopped again .... nil.

As someone that regularly goes over 200km/hr, I have one thing to say to anyone else that loves speed as much as I do.

KEEP IT ON THE TRACK!!!

Sorry, but if you can't tell the difference between 100km/h and 240km/h on even a deserted road...you probably shouldn't be on it.

Speed never killed anyone, its the sudden stop :)

And why have a machine capable of doing twice the speed limit? Why have a 3000sq ft house? Why drive an 8 cylinder truck that burns 20 liters per 100km when you can get a honda civic that burns 7 liters?

Its called freedom

It will be interesting to see if those who have expressed that speeding isn't so bad in past threads have anything to add to this one. Is anyone missing from TERB?

Do you really have the right to go and kill yourself in this country? Maybe we do, just sounds weird that someone can get into his/her car and then speed over 150 miles per hour into a wall.

we hardly know the circumstances. on a deserted 400 series highway, any speed is safe unless a tire blows. or the driver makes a mistake. maybe he only floored it and was about to back off. this is blown out of proportion in our minds cause of paul walker. more the emphasis should be on the drunk part. the rest is collateral.

You know that pretty much every vehicle on the road is capable of going more than double the speed limit, depending upon what the speed limit is. For example, even a little Toyota Yaris will reach 190 km/h. The problem is that there's fast vehicles, it's that sometimes people exceed speed limits on public roads and yes, sometimes by a lot but that's what we have laws for. Many people including myself like to take their performance car which are capable of reaching 300+ km/h to the track where I can drive as fast as I want, pushing the limits of the car without the fear of getting a ticket. These cars are also designed to drive on the Autobahn where a third of it has no speed limit.

The problem here isn't the car, it's the driver. Not to mention he was allegedly drunk.

Lets not punish all law abiding citizens by imposing speed limiters on vehicles.

This is what 357 km/h looks like on the Autobahn. I might have wanted to wait until the fog lifted. :D
