Well I was going to say look at the Nevada Sentencing guidelines only to discover that they really don't have any. So all I can do is transpose what I'm familiar with to this case. Nevada is currently considering a reform of their sentencing system which has been described as “an essentially unstructured exercise of judicial discretion.” At present there is a minimum and a maximum sentence (often widely disparate) and the judge chooses between them.

Probably him, since I do little criminal law. In Canada, sentencing is within judicial discretion although there are "unwritten rules" as to highs and lows. So either or both figures could be correct depending on the current practice. We would need After Hours to advise on what's currently normative for Ontario.

I see that it was the U.S. Marshals Service, by far and away the oldest U.S. Federal Law Enforcement Agency (dating to the Washington Administration), that arrested him.

Nevada I understand does have a prison overcrowding problem. But seeing that this is a crime of violence Johathan Koppenhaver would be among the last prisoners to be released early. Neither do I foresee any plea deal.

Koppenhaver suffered tramatic experiences as a child. His mother ended up a drug addict and he would be the one to take care of his younger syblings. When he was thirteen his Dad suffered a heart attact. He tried CPR on his Dad but it didn't work. Thats a lot of psychological damage at a young age.

The part of her story where she claims he wanted to 1) rape her and 2) he couldn't get it up were two dead giveaways that her story was a complete fabrication. These women are not brain surgeons.
